Welcome to the Boards STfan4ever, as I post this you will be getting ready to go inside the venue.

Have the best time ever! Yes Shania live is that good, and I do hope you get close and possibly get a high five or an autograph. You will get hyper during the concert and for days afterwards will think of nothing else.

You will bore all your friends talking about it for hours on end and after a few days get withdrawel symptoms that will require you to travel to the next venue for a second 'fix'

As an official "Level 2" Shania fan you will be fixated by thoughts of achieving "Level 3" Close up and personal.... This will pass with time, but the urge to attend a second live concert will NEVER leave you.

Like the rest you will exist from one concert to the next in a Shania La La land where you have to mix, meet and greet fellow addicts, as no one else understands the urge to talk, read, sing, listen, view Shania subjects all day, every day.

Like us you will have this urge to spread the Word, taking comfort in numbers knowing if you can get your next door addicted then perhaps you are OK really.

Welcome to ShaniaLand... enjoy.

Shania rocked South Philadelphia last night! She and Eja are fighting off colds she said, but she seemed to even more energy than she Wed night in NJ. The set list was identical to the NJ show with one exception: she sang Happy Birthday to a little nine year old girl named Allison. Lucky girl!!!

Shania wore a Philadelphia Flyers jersey to open the show. She told a couple of funny stories that related to the jersey. First, the Flyers had given her her own Flyers jersey back in 1999 when she sang the National Anthems of the US and Canada before a Flyers/Maple Leafs game in Philly. The jersey has "TWAIN" on the back and a big number "1" on it. The funny thing is that it's too big for her to wear or she would have worn it last night. The other story happened when she was a child in Timmins. She and her sister were foraging in a dump near their home for salvagable items when they found a perfectly good Flyers jersey in a bag of clothes. They kept the jersey and she wore it around the house for many years.

Next change had Shania in the yellow spaghetti strap shirt that she wore in NJ the other night, except this time she wore a pink shirt underneath that covered up her bare midriff. It was pretty cold in the Center last night, so maybe that's why the second shirt. Just a guess.

Last change put Shania in a Donovan McNabb/Philadelphia Eagles midnight green jersey! Go Eagles! E-A-G-L-E-S! EAGLES!!!! Anyway, I digress.

Most of the crowd was on their feet for the entire show. The Wachovia Center was rocking! The acoustics were much better than they were in the Continental Airlines Arena on Wed night. Shania and the band sounded so much better.

Having learned that Shania sings TWIM while sitting in the audience at the last show, Tricia and I tried our darndest to locate any markings that would indicate where Shania would be singing this time. We couldn't find anything to give her location away. Wed night two seats were clearly marked but we didn't know why. Something to look for when you go to see Shania.

YSTO was the first song of the encore. I listened more closely tonight Chris. LOL!

A couple of songs from Up! really rocked the house: In My Car, What A Way To Wanna Be, were exceptional!!! Great energy, phenomenal rhythms. Everybody in the house was dancing. Awesome! (All of the songs rocked, I just thought those two were the best.)

Must have been those great Philly Cheesesteaks! This was the best of the five Shania shows I've seen.

From Philadelphia Inquirer 10/12/03 article:

"Country girl Shania Twain skipped the city before Friday's Wachovia Center show. She overnighted at the Stockton Inn in the wilds of Hunterdon County, N.J."

Wish I'd had a reservation there!!!! Oh well.

I was using a conventional camera and my film is being processed. I hope to have some good pics;) I will know on Tuesday and will post then if they turn out. The usher in front of me was warning me that my film could get confiscated, so I had to be a little surreptitious.

Just wanted to add my small review of Friday nights show. Our seats were in the 200 level so we had a different view of things. Some idiot guy tried to rush the stage and it took about 5 or 6 security guys to restrain him and drag him out of the arena. Then after TWIM, these 2 women sitting next to me decided they were going to stand up and dance. The people in the row behind politely asked them to sit down since they couldn't see. They said "**** You, this is a concert and we are gonna dance". The fists and beer began to fly. I wound up with beer on one side of me, down my arm and leg. The girl in front of me was soaked. I had an arm in front of my 14 year old daughter so she wasnt hit. Finally security came and escorted about 6 people out. I really can't understand people that spend money to go to see a concert and get drunk.

The concert itself was totally amazing. I had tears in my eyes when Shania sang TWIM. This was by far the best show I have ever seen and I have seen quite a few. I only wish she sang NAH! or Ka-Ching instead of C'est La Vie. Just personal preference, nothing against that song. Not much else I can add that hasn't already been said by the others. The show was totally awesome!!! Shania, please don't stay away so long next time!!

Ah, and welcome on the board!

That sounds like some experience. I don't get it either, they can pop in a DVD at home and get wasted. Why go to the concert and get trashed, now they are putting others in danger when they drive home. Plus, we all know you don't need alcohol to get a buzz at a Shania concert.

I apologize on behalf of all civil Philadelphians for the behavior of those few idiots. There always seems to be a few in every crowd. Wednesday in North Jersey it was the two guys sitting next to Tricia and me. They got up every song to either buy more beer or to go to the bathroom!!! They were so plastered that they probably thought they were at a hockey game!

Anyway, a few more pics from the Philly show. Still waiting on the close-ups!

WOW!!!

Quite the story, when my sister and I went to the Ottawa concert, we were also in the 200 level. Very different view than what we've been reading about in all the reviews from floor seaters. Still a great experience like you said though.

There were a few people around us that were drunk too, and man did they stink of alcohol.....YUCK!!!!

It didn't get bad enough to have to get escorted out, however, thank goodness. My sister who is not a HUGE Shania fan like myself even said, "Why get drunk, you don't even need coffee in the morning before this concert, Shania herself will put you on that high for the next month" Boy oh boy is she correct, however I think I'll be on this high for way longer than a month...LOL!!!

Welcome to the Boards Bonny and thank you for the revue. In the UK Beer and Spirits are not allowed at any indoor music concert for crowd safety reason.

I had the opportunity to attend Shania's concert in Philly on Oct. 10th. Traveling 120 miles from central PA we arrived early and found people tailgaiting in the parking lot. Everyone was having a good time with high expectations of what was to follow. There were many different Shania T-shirts visible along with women and girls dressed in outfits Shania had previously worn either in concert or in video. Some of the little girls were real cute while some had cowboy hats.

When inside, the joint was packed. Our seats were rather high but the view was good. It appeared that every ticket was sold and every seat was filled. Prior to her appearance, the lights went down and the crowd began to go wild when a voice from nowhere says "Are You Ready Philadelphia ?". The arena erupts with deafening noise. Again it is heard "I said, Are You Ready Philadelphia ?". Shania then appears and begins singing 'Man, I Feel Like A Woman'.

Shania then proceeded to sing for 2 hours and 15 minutes. She sang all of the old music along with some of the best from her new album. There were 24 songs, 28 with the medley. Just like the network specials, the crowd was singing along with every word.

It was a round center stage with a platform in the middle allowing for a lot of freedom of movement for Shania and her band. The lighting and video were unbelievable and there was a little pyro for some special effects. I enjoy the way the band performs with such high energy and also the way they dress (drummer wearing the goggles and a hockey jersey). Shania was all over the stage all night long with the usual crowd interaction and energy, pausing several times to speak with the audience about recent experiences, her favorite charities, and a small bit about her son. As usual she invited 2 small girls (ages 8 and 9) to the stage where they sang one of her songs. She followed by singing Happy Birthday to the one girl. Later she invited a teenage boy to the stage to dance and help her sing "Don't Be Stupid". She gave him the microphone for a verse of the song and he knew every word. The crowd went nuts. Shania wore three outfits with one showing the customary trademark midriff and naval while another was an Eagles football jersey. When appearing wearing the football jersey, again the crowd went nuts.

Prior to attending the concert, I had read reviews of previous concerts on this tour leg to get fan's impressions and to see what to expect. Those writing reviews were really impressed and I agree. I was eagerly anticipating the show and was not disappointed. I really had a good time and can't wait to go again. Sorry for the delay in responding to fellow board members who were wondering if this was my first time seeing a Shania concert live.

This was my third time seeing Shania in concert. But as you can probably tell from my concert review, I felt like a kid on Christmas morning. The excitement is unbelievable and stays with you for days. As a fellow board member had stated earlier, the hype lasts for days afterward and you can think of nothing else. And as one enters into Shanialand, few do undertstand the urge to mix, meet, talk, read, listen and sing about Shania all day long.

For those waiting to attend a Shania concert, you won't be disappointed. And if you haven't got tickets yet, by all means get them NOW !!!

Thanks to all the board members for their reviews, comments and pictures from the Philly concert.

It is so great in Shanialand !!!!

Very well put !!! It's amazing the energy one derives from this Up! tour. But the really fun thing is also recognizing that the energy is building before you even get to the venue.....I've been to two shows so far (Pittsburgh and Grand Rapids) and I was so full of energy that I even found myself pacing in the hotel room. Ok, I might sound a little nuts here but I'm telling you the positive energy Shania generates is real and tangible....And Yeee Haaaaa !!!! Hold on to your seats folks, cuz the concert is a 2hours+ ride! And like "racecars" said, The excitement stays with you for days!!!!
Only a couple of more days until my next concert in Chicago....."Rev it Up, Rev it Up, til your engine Blows!!!"

It is so great in Shanialand !!!!

Oh so true Racecars, no matter how good you life is - a Shania Concert is BETTER!!! I wish I had the cash to invite everyone I know along. But hanging out here, now I can meet my online friends at every venue and that is just as much fun as the concert too!!!!

Tom saving for the Timmins Worldwide Shania Twain fan convention 2004 as I type. :D

does anyone have the complete setlist for the show in Philadelphia?? My 9 year old daughter and 6 year old son -- who thought the show was great-as did I-- wants me to put together a cd with the songs and in the exact order of the show

Thanks
