Maybe Eja is an Ojibwe name, as Shania is. Anyone know any Ojibwe?
Roger
Sorry you said it before but I was so focused on your theory that I didn't see "that's my theory"

A=I don't know what the A would stand for, haven't figured that one out yet! Maybe like you said, to support the j

On Y107 they mentioned what Eja means...
the did mentioned a website, however the DJ said it to fast. But the name means, someone who is studious, appreciates, music, art, ....and thats all I remember. I'll try to get the website. I emailed the DJ.

That's a good observation Lindsay. When I first heard it I thought perhaps it might be a South African name, since Mutt is from Africa. No matter where it originated from, I think it is a very unique name, and I really like it!!! http://www.shania-twain.org/messages/biggrin.gif

I think it is more of a coincidence that Eja comes from Eileen, John and something beginning with an A. The reason why I’m saying this is because Shania when she had to change her name she chose something meaningful. I think this is the case here too, since we are talking about the most special moment in her life. If we are patient, we’ll surely find out what it means. I bet that will be one of the first questions every interviewer will ask her when she gets back in the front line. JMO.

Londo, I agree that we'll know in time. Meanwhile, it's fun to speculate. My own theory is that Eja could be an Ojibwe name. We know Shania was raised in the Ojibwe traditions. We know she insisted on keeping the name Twain as her professional name to honour her late parents. I understand the name Twain was kept as part of the name of the Centre for similar reasons. We know she took the name Shania as her stage name partly because it is Ojibwe. So we can conclude Shania believes in using names for their symbolic value. Now, we also know Shania took the name Lange as her married name. So since their son will have Mutt's last name, perhaps the new parents thought it might be nice for their son's first name to represent something from Shania's background.
Of course if Eja isn't an Ojibwe name, this elaborate theory goes out the window...LOL

Maybe Roger is on to something. Maybe this name has something to do with her Dad Jerry's family. Just a thought.

Steve that sounds like a reasonable theory.
Since the baby will have Mutt's last name, then maybe it's E-Eilleen, J-Jerry..for her dad?

Maybe they conceived the baby on a trip to Asia in November, 2000 but chose to spell it EJA!!!
Shania named her dog Tim after her hometown Timmins so maybe EJA has some sort of personal meaning to Mutt and Shania!
