SHANIA TWAIN BABY HAS ARRIVED
It was the most anticipated event of Shania Twain's career since the arrival of COME ON OVER, her follow up album to THE WOMAN IN ME. But, Shania Twain's baby arrived last weekend (either Sat. 8/11 or Sun. 8/12 depending on which Shania source you conferred with). Shania and husband Mutt Lange have a baby boy they named Eja (pronounced like Asia). Expect more details later today from Shania's management and PR firms.
KEPT SECRET
Twain decided to keep the details of her pregnancy as private as possible and succeeded. She never revealed the due date or sex of the child and stayed clear of the paparazzi who shadowed her in Switzerland trying to snap pictures of her as she looked with child. Only one such photograph was released during the whole pregnancy. Twain's love of children grew out of her own difficult childhood. Shania's family went through some lean years. She recalled the pain of having to go to school without lunch to eat and often felt the sting of hunger. For that reason she wrote "God Bless the Child" and donated funds from that record to programs to feed children. Also, during Shania's world tour she made it a point to bring young children on stage with her, and recruited one hopeful, young local singer to get up and have the experience of singing before a huge crowd.
