There is a NEW poll going on at Country.com. The poll is about Shania choosing to name her son EJA.

It's a poll to see what Site visitors think of the name.

HERE's the poll Question & the choices:

Shania Twain has named her son Eja (said "Asia"). How do you like the name?

---Love it. It's original and unique.

---Asia is a place, not a boy's name.

---It's her kid; she can name it what she wants.

*****Right now, the SECOND choice ("Asia is a place, not a boy's name") is in the Lead!!

To show Your support for the name by Voting, go here:

Just voted. At the moment the third choice is leading. I voted for the first choice. I like the name. I think its unique. I know what its like to have a name that isn't that common.

A woman called the radio station I was listening to this morning and told them her daughter was named Aja and that they pronounced it Asia. http://www.shania-twain.org/messages/biggrin.gif http://www.shania-twain.org/messages/biggrin.gif

I love the name EJA LANGE! The name looks great in writing and sounds cool!
It's different and I don't know anyone who has that name! Who wants a common name! I love it!

Asia is a place (continent to be exact) but Eja is a name. Except they may sound similar I don't see any relationship between these two words. - the 2nd answer will never be considered by me.

I picked 1st answer - it is cool, just wonder how many people will misspell and mispronounce his name http://www.shania-twain.org/messages/smile.gif

I still don't know how to pronounce Eja exactly http://www.shania-twain.org/messages/frown.gif

I know how to pronounce Asia, but I think they probably don't sound 100% identical.

Can anybody help?

I love the name too, I like names that are different. My daughters name is Kirstie Lauree (Pronounced Ker stie and Laura with a long A at the end) Haven't run accross anyone with the same name other than Kirstie Ally the actress. Eja is a wonderful name. Shania like me will have to have things with names specially made http://www.shania-twain.org/messages/smile.gif

I love the name, it sounds great! At first I must admit it was a shock only because it's a name i've never heard before. I would just like to add that I LOVE the name SHANIA and if I had a little girl someday this is the name I'd most likly pick.
Great topic and yes I will vote, by the way who is the public to say if they don't like the name. It sounds wonderful with lange I think almost royal like http://www.shania-twain.org/messages/smile.gif Way to go Shania and Mutt. I am so interested in hearing how this great name came to be....Quick someone call BB maybe he could find out for us!...!! Oh Shania can't wait til you feel ready to chat with us and let us in (a little) on how you are, I could think of millions of things to ask you..yeah, I'm sure we all could! I sure do miss her, can't wait til shania mania kicks in again! Bye for now everyone! KEEP LOVIN' SHANIA - "FROM THIS MOMENT ON!

I just can't believe what a stupid "POLL" this is. I mean, Shania hasn't even showed us her baby yet & CMT already has a "POLL" about the baby's name? I think THIS is totally disrespectful.

Eja is a BEAUTIFUL name. And if the meaning you guys has looked up is what Shania and Mutt had in mind, it couldn't be more appropriate. I tried to cast my vote, but it's a completely different poll up now. I'll check again tomorrow morning.

Like I said before, I voted... But WHAT A STUPID and INSIPID POLL. It's Shania's baby, she can name him whatwever she and Mutt want. Eja is kinda cute.. http://www.shania-twain.org/messages/smile.gif I still want to her say it, I think all the talking heads on TV are saying it wrong.

I love the name. It is unique and different. I had heard it before a long time ago. Don't people have better things to do than such dumb things as this! http://www.shania-twain.org/messages/frown.gif

Steve, I agree. The people at Country.com should get a life. Whatever name Shania & Mutt choose for their child shouldn't be put up for scrutiny and criticism.

I agree a poll should have never happened.
And lets face it, it only happened because it is an unusual name, they're expecting the negative. If the name was Matthew there would be no poll..........

I don't know about the culture from where Eja came from, but I do know that in Hawaiian, the letter "e" is pronounced like the long "a" in "Asia", and the letter "a" is always pronounced like the short "a" sound. So it would be very natural for anybody from HERE to pronounce Eja like "Asia". Hawaiian doesn't have the letter "j", though. HA!

When we go to these polls to "help" Shania we do exactly what the fools who make up these crazy polls want-we visit their web site. As stupid as the polls are they serve the purpose of getting us to visit the site. In no way do they "help" Shania. A better response might be a group note letting them know we don't care for the foolish polls and for us to avoid sending a bunch of us to the site to vote and support the site with our visit. It's adversising guys and it works! We need a better group philosophy and united response to these things. DOC

You're bang on with that, doc, which is why I rarely vote in these things. However, I do once in a while if I think the results of the poll will assist Shania in her publicity. It's a judgement thing each time. This latest poll from country.com just seems inane to me and voting in it won't help Shania whichever way it comes out so I'm leaving it alone.

I agree Doc. Many of the polls are, well, stupid. There are a few that pop up that I do feel compelled to go to and vote. I can't explain how I "draw the line" at what is worthy or not.
I agree that if you did vote or didn't for this particular poll fire off an email stating what you feel about it. I did. Guess maybe I should have copied it. I let them know I didn't think the baby even if only in the form of a name, should be the topic of a poll. I asked them why give the chance for people to be negative and taint a joyous time. I also said I hope they don't have a cheesy "will Shania get her midriff back" type of poll. Also said I was glad Shania kept to herself during the pregnancy, who knows what kind of polls would have been out there.......Of course , you know me, there was more http://www.shania-twain.org/messages/smile.gif They'll get my point!

Alright Doc!!! So is there an email address. Being in Boston, the Cradle of the American Revolution, is making me feel rebelious I say, we storm them with email!!!! lol http://www.shania-twain.org/messages/smile.gif

I'm all for it. What's the e-mail address?

DOC BILL

I think stormin' em with emails is ok but it would be nice if we could agree on the more foolish polls getting an email officially from "the club" expressing our united opinion on the poll. Doing it that way as well as crashing there computers with individual emails may carry more clout! Remember each time one of us visit the sites, even if it's just to send a negative email the ticker indicates another site visit and it supports the PR value of the polls. Perhaps the first person to spot these foolish polls could get the email address for "comments" and bring it to the board so each of us and perhaps the "group" can respond without actually visiting the site. I do understand the point that at times the polls do have some reasoneable value and our individual votes may be important in supporting Shania so perhaps some discussion on the board before we respond may allow us to effectively seperate those with value from those that are degrading and nonsensical. I'm in agreement here with Doc. There are some good polls out there that we need or enjoy voting on but garbage like this is a waste of my time. Perhaps a letter from the club would be in order.

Here's what I sent. It may have been a stupid mistake or far too nasty (I'm actually non-confrontational to a fault), but I felt the need:

"Re: Naming of Eja Lange

I don't normally send e-mails relating to polls, however I feel I must when it concerns a poll passing judgment on the naming of a newborn child. It would appear that Nashville's never-ending need to bash Shania Twain is being passed onto her innocent newborn son. A name for a child is picked with careful consideration and much love. The parents' history as well as their interests and cultures are often taken into consideration. That name is not for anyone else to pass judgment on or to take cheap pot shots at. And the last I heard, the continent is spelled A-S-I-A. If you'll look very, very carefully, you'll see that Shania and Mutt Lange's son's name is spelled E-J-A. It may sound the same, but I bet you can spot the difference.

Sheri (It sounds like an alcoholic beverage, but it's not. See, the spelling's even different. It's my name.)"

Sheri-
I love your e-mail. I don't think that it was stupid. The poll was stupid. I love the fact that your name is Sheri and that you could through the fact that it sounds like something other than your name in their faces. Your whole e-mail was perfect.

Sheri, what an elegant put-down! I love it! This reminds me of the MuchMoreMusic poll about the Shania Centre that was much worse than this poll. This one is merely inane; the MMM poll was grossly insulting. I sent a letter of protest to MMM and brought the matter to the attention of the messageboard, after which many more of you sent your own letters of protest. I really think Doc has the best idea on this though. I think a note written on behalf of the club might carry more weight. So in future of course any of you are free to write off letters of complaint on your own behalf anytime you like but it might be a good idea to ask if others in the club would like to join together for an official joint complaint. Thanx for the idea, doc.

Thank you, guys! It means a lot coming from you!! I did get the only response I'll probably ever get. Something like thanks for the e-mail. We're always interested... blah, blah, blah. Please understand that due to the large number of blah, blah, blah, we may not be able to respond to every e-mail individually, blah, blah, blah. So much for my effectiveness. http://www.shania-twain.org/messages/smile.gif But, I got to vent, and I got back-up from my Shania family. I'm ALL FOR the group letter from the fan club, but I'm also all for a storm of mail. Why not have both!

Roger,

Sorry I didn't think to ask any members of the club to join in on that e-mail, but I'm not anything remotely close to being a moderator, and didn't feel I had that right to represent myself as such. Sorry!!!
