I know this is not "Baby" related, but maybe interesting and maybe not. Anyway for all you KK lovers, here is an article that was on my ATT Homepage this am:
Krispy Kreme Earnings Still Hot
Updated 6:46 AM ET August 23, 2001
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (Reuters) - Krispy Kreme Doughnuts Inc (KKD.N) said on Thursday that fiscal second-quarter earnings jumped 65 percent as the maker of hot glazed doughnuts continued a rapid expansion.
Krispy Kreme, which operates 192 stores in 31 states, also said it sees its full-year earnings topping the current Wall Street consensus estimates for fiscal 2002 and 2003, and said it plans to open 40 stores during its current fiscal 2002, up from a previous plan of 38 stores.
Winston-Salem, North Carolina-based Krispy Kreme reported net income of $5.9 million, or 10 cents a diluted share for the quarter ended July 29, compared with net income of $3.6 million, or 6 cents, a year ago.
Analysts' second-quarter estimates ranged from 8 cents per share to 10 cents with a consensus at 9 cents, according to market research firm Thomson Financial/First Call.
Krispy Kreme said it now expects to earn 42 cents per share for fiscal 2002 and 59 cents per share for fiscal 2003. Analysts' fiscal 2002 estimates range from 38 cents per share to 43 cents with a consensus at 40 cents, according to First Call. For fiscal 2003, analysts currently expect Krispy Kreme to earn 50 cents per share to 55 cents, with a consensus of 51 cents.
Systemwide sales, including sales of company and franchise stores, rose 34 percent to $144.3 million from $107.7 million in the year ago quarter and total company revenue rose 27.8 percent to $89.5 million.

You know, anyone new wandering in to this messageboard will really wonder why we seem to be obsessed with doughnuts!...LOL Anyway, I don't have the facts and figures at my disposal any more but I read 6 months ago there were 3000 or so Tim Hortons in Canada and they're planning a few hundred more as part of an expansion plan into the northern states. Should be an interesting contest. This is one of the few cases where the Canadian company is bigger than the US one, except of course TH was taken over by Wendy's in 1995 so really isn't Canadian any more.
Boy did we ever miss TH when we were in Virginia! It wasn't the doughnuts. It was the almost total lack of restaurants selling healthy and cheap meals (soups, sandwiches). You could have healthy but not cheap or vice-versa. Once you've known TH you really notice what's missing in places they haven't gotten to yet. BTW I don't own Wendy's stock but do follow the market. TM was the only bright spot in Wendy's otherwise lacklustre performance.

I keep sensing your bendin' Roger but you continue to refuse to break! Accept reality-KK's rule-just ask Shania. Your resistance is futile. Give in so we can move on to other important topics. Bring the donut obsession on this site to an end by allowing Tim Horton's to accept their obvious role in the donut world-a distant second! DOC

My favorite way to eat KK's (the best doughnut in the world), is to take the glazed ones and heat them up in a skillet with lots of butter! em em good! http://www.shania-twain.org/messages/biggrin.gif

LOL..you're goading me, doc! Look, like it or not, KK is light-weight not just in the consistency of their doughnuts but in their organization in comparison with TH... http://www.shania-twain.org/messages/tongue.gif.. TH is 10 times as big as KK and expanding much faster than KK. Wait till TH targets Pennsylvania and you'll see what I mean. Even if KK's doughnuts do win the popularity contest, doughnuts are just one small part of TH and the TH juggernaut will roll on just the same. The only thing that will derail TH is dumb leadership from "foreign" management if they try to tamper with a tried and true formula.
Let's just agree to differ and get back to things Shania... http://www.shania-twain.org/messages/smile.gif

OK Roger-I'm a patient guy. We'll agree to disagree till you come around. Just remember we're talkin' about donuts here-don't start throwin' that other stuff in. KK makes donuts-that's what they do and they do it better than anyone else!!! As for TH coming to PA-bring 'em on! DOC
Well I have tried to stay out of this debate because we all know that KK's are the BEST!! However, after reading Rogers post to Doc, about TH coming to PA I just had to post.
Roger, as Doc says, they brought TH's on here in Ohio about five or so years ago. In that time I have visited twice. So see, TH is not taking over KK's here in Ohio and they never will. If you had a KK there next to a TH, admit it, you would be going to KK's for your donuts!!!

Okay, okay, guys, I know when I'm outnumbered...LOL. This topic seems to generate as much heated but essentially irrelevant discussion as mention of a certain singer. The difference is, I guess, I find these doughnut discussions fun while the ones about the other singer were not. I'm just gonna have to try more types of KKs before I pronounce again. BTW something I find a little disturbing. We still have a few KK mini-crullers left over from over a week ago. They seem just as fresh now as they did when we bought them. Dont' tell me they aren't full of some chemical or other!

LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! yeah this topic here proves SHANIA COME BACK WE NEED NEW TOPICS! btw I have never had kk's before! yes, I know I'm misssing out. you guys and your great posts here ya gotta love this board!
Twain Crazy!
Well then Roger, if they are the same now as they were when you bought them, then you definitely need to try them again. The ones you got were NOT fresh and this is the way to eat them. I love it when I go to Myrtle Beach. There you can actually watch them make them and then eat them while their still warm. I know if you tried them like this, you would melt, just as they do in your mouth.
On our next get together, hopefully here in the states, we will have to make sure that state has a KK for all of those who have yet to try them.
Have A Happy Heart!!!

Holy Cow! I never dreamed this post would create so much havoc! I was only trying to show that KK is doing well financially thanks to stars like Shania. I didn't intend for it to become a "let's get Roger" thing! http://www.shania-twain.org/messages/tongue.gif
As for me, there are still no KKs around here, but alas, there are now some THs. So, I intend to try this new "Fruit Explosion Muffin" they are currently advertising every 5 minutes on TV. When I do get one to eat Roger, I'll be thinking of you and all our great times at TH on the way to the North Woods, sorry North Bush as Shania calls it! http://www.shania-twain.org/messages/biggrin.gif

>I know when I'm outnumbered...LOL.
But you're not alone, Roger! I also think Krispy Kremes are too light and sweet. My favorites donuts are from the local mom and pop shop. http://www.shania-twain.org/messages/biggrin.gif

I know exactly what you mean. The absolute best donuts I have ever had came from a small bakery in a small country town north of where I live. They were to die for. You just can't beat a small country town bakery, I can smell it now.
