Hya Terry!
We need to have a face-to-face chat once in Timmins, that would be so much fun! The conference room at the Senator looks really cool, one other option Bryce mentioned was a pub in the hotel or one right outside, where Shania used to sing!!! Anyways, we'll get a place for our private Shania party, and who knows Shania might stop by once she knows we're having fun.. http://www.shania-twain.org/messages/wink.gif

I think we need this. I'm having a hard time thinking of something to say because FTMO just came on the radio. Anyway, I guess I had better think of something to say because I have to go to work in 5 minutes. You get pictures in you mind of what people look like so I think it would be interesting to meet each other & compare notes. If we somehow get lucky enough to meet Shania as a group, then someone will probably have to throw me at her because I will probably be like at my first high school dance and be dumbfounded as to how to act & what to say. This is pretty bad for a guy who is old enough to be her father! I'm going to be a little absent for the next few days as my wife is going to have surgery tomorrow and I will be staying home to care for her. So I won't have much time for surfing the net. I will see you guys in a while. Must get to work, already over 1 minute! http://www.shania-twain.org/messages/redface.gif

I'd be just like you if I ever were to come face to face with Shania. I'd likely say something totaly stupid and make a fool of myself. But just meeting her would be worth it.

I hope all goes well with your wife and that she is up and about quickly. Follow FV's advice lots of Shania music.

I won't know till it happens (if it ever happens!) but I really don't think I'd be tongue tied or dumbfounded if I got the chance to Meet and Talk to Shania. She just seems to down to earth and friendly to me that I think I'd feel just like I was talking to an old friend that I hadn't seen in years. My problem probably would be that I'd have so much I'd want to say to her and so much I'd want to ask her that she'd probably have to cover my mouth to shut me up! Probably be best that I just say "THANK YOU" and let her get on with makin' Bryce faint.DOC

Okay everyone, I'm back! I just want to thank all of you who wished my wife well. She had her surgery last Thursday and all went well. I took care of her on Friday after she was discharged from the hospital and through the weekend and now here I am back at my desk.

I do have one kind of funny thing to tell you about this experience. Saturday night I was asked by my kids to make my famous Chili. I thought my wife is upstairs resting and no one else is home, why not play COO I/V [not too loud] while I am making the Chili. Of course whenever I am listening to Shania songs, I become very upbeat, so I was right into it and singing along while preparing my ingredients. Now comes the funny part. My wife came downstairs to go to the bathroom and she says to me: "well, I guess you know when you have a captive audience that can't escape." She was smiling when she said it, so she wasn't angry. About that time the kids came home as TDIMM was on and my granddaughter was bopping around and having a good time. Just thought I would pass this along. http://www.shania-twain.org/messages/biggrin.gif http://www.shania-twain.org/messages/biggrin.gif

I'm glad I'm not alone on this Roger. After nearly 33 years of being together, I have learned something and that is actual experience is valuable. I'm banking on that if we get to actually see Shania in person, maybe it rub off on my wife, i.e., maybe she will see Shania in a different light than she does now. Maybe she will see there is more to her than just running around the stage singing songs. Maybe she will see Shania is also a down to earth nice person as we know she is. If it doesn't work, oh well, at least I get to see Shania and the Centre. http://www.shania-twain.org/messages/smile.gif

Hope seeing Shania in person works for you, Steve. Gotta tell you it didn't work for my wife. The problem is we like two completely different kinds of music. My wife likes choral music, Scottish country music and light classics. I like country and rock. So never the "twain" shall meet...LOL

Hi Steve!
Glad you're back buddy and everything went well with your wife! http://www.shania-twain.org/messages/smile.gif

I'm home sick today and am really burnin' up my keyboard! But this morning I had watched some tube and had clicked on VH1 and there she was.....Shania! 'That Don't Impress Me Much' had just come on..and boy did I feel better after that! http://www.shania-twain.org/messages/smile.gif...but not enough to go to work!

I should use this time to study for a quiz I'm havin' at computer school tonight...but I love talkin' Shania!
Study..talk Shania..study..talk Shania.....
I'll do both! http://www.shania-twain.org/messages/biggrin.gif See ya'.

Oh,and Steve believe me most women just don't get what most of us guy's feel about Shania. I think she is an incredibly beautiful woman but it's the music, her words, the great person she is,her caring for other's...you know what I mean. She is beacon of positive energy. If I hopefully meet Shania in Timmins my legs will probably turn to rubber.I respect Shania so much. But my girlfriend still gives me grief..light-heartedly offcource... and she loves Shania too!

Super Shania Fan,

Hey - I think I may have missed something.
Can someone email me w/ some details of the trip to Timmons. How do we get to go or will everyone on the fan club know about it? Is there something planned in July that I missed? I can help w/ this. I'd love to get a bus from my area in Boston of some devoted fans and bring them w/ me. I think it is a great idea to get a room or meet in a pub so we can all meet eachother. I would love to work on getting the word out to Shania that we will be there ~ I have a strong feeling that she will come.

Char,
glad you want to join us for the Fan Club Trip to Timmins. The Fan Club site (www.shania-twain.org/) will soon have a webpage up on this topic, but in the meantime you can keep reading this board because all the most important news on that trip will be posted here as well. http://www.shania-twain.org/messages/smile.gif
In few words to sum up what we have discussed for the trip:
1) we're going to Timmins!!!!!! to see the Shania Twain Interpretive Centre opening in early July 2001, with SHANIA!!!!!
2) There is an option to have a bus for all of us, probably from Detroit to Timmins and back..
3) We're trying to have a block of rooms at the Senator Hotel so that we can all stay together and keep talking about Shania constantly..
4) We will have a very special face-to-face chat so that we can match thoughts with faces and voices..LOL
5) WE WILL ROCK TIMMINS OUT OF THIS PLANET TOGETHER WITH SHANIA!!!!!!
6) We will be wearing the Fan Club's Tshirts, so you better buy it!!!!! www.shania-twain.org/tshirt.htm (http://www.shania-twain.org/tshirt.htm)

I think I have summed it up for the moment.. http://www.shania-twain.org/messages/smile.gif

Roger, I don't have that problem. Yes, I tend to like a lot of Country and she doesn't, but she does like some. She likes Reba and we've seen her twice. She also likes Alabama and we've seen them 3 times. We've seen Kenny Rogers 3 times. No, she is not into choral music, Scottish country or classics. My mother likes classical though. We saw Juice Newton a few years ago, and I might add I met her and talked to her. I have always liked her music. Of course Juice is not Shania, so I might not tend to be as calm in talking to Shania. I brought up Juice Newton because last night we had a bad wind storm here and the cable went out, in order not to be bored and also not to push things too far I got out a video I made in April of 1985. Of course I had to slap my own wrist because it wanted to pull out Shania videos, but I was able to control my urge. This 1985 tape is mostly Country Music which, and for me at least, it was a great period. I watched 2 hours of it. There was a lot of Juice, Alabama, Vince Gill's 1st hit - Turn Me Loose, Oak Ridge Boys, and many others. I really did enjoy it. I guess I'm, getting off track, but my point is that my wife came down and watched a lot of it with me. She also liked that period. I know she likes Shania's music because I have overheard her singing along to Shania's songs when she didn't think I was paying attention. The problem I have and which I created for myself is that I overwhelmed her with Shania, especially in 1999 when she was so hot. I should have been a lot more conservative in showing her Shania news. I printed out a lot of stuff and left it all over the house. I think you get the picture. I made a big mistake in doing so. I tried to make my wife as big a fan as me. I was wrong and I am sorry for that now, but I think if I am careful from now on, things will work out. She seems to be okay with it as long as I don't overwhelm her. She's already agreed to go to Timmins. Of course I don't think she realizes the extent of this event and I'm not going to rock the boat now. I'm sorry Roger for rattling on, and you may be right in that I won't be able to change her mind even if she sees Shania in person, but I have my fingers crossed. I know a lot of you out there are probably getting bored with my stories about this, but I felt I had to comment. http://www.shania-twain.org/messages/redface.gif

Well, you're lucky, Steve, that your wife has agreed to go with you to Timmins. I don't know yet if I can go to Timmins (because of a prior commitment I can't break the weekend of July 1) but, if I do, my wife will not be going with me. She doesn't understand the fuss over Shania. Doesn't understand how anyone can be a fan of any celebrity since, to her, all celebrities are just people like anyone else. She said she'd just feel out of place.

Thanks again FV. I don't know how good a husband I am, but it seems that Shania gets involved a lot in our lives. Of course I have alot to do with that happening. I got chuckling about the relationship part. Sometimes when I get home from work, my wife will ask: "so, what did you look up on the Internet today?" Coyly I'll say: "USA Today, Genealogy, etc." She knows I visit this site a lot, but I kinda don't admit it. It's not that I'm ashamed of you guys or anything, it is just the less said right now the better. Occasionally, when she asks I will say that I went to Shania's site today. It's like a little game we play. Of course she isn't aware that I have a ton of Shania sites, but then this is the one I go to most of the time. She loves the group N'Snync so I bought her an N'Sync 2001 Appointment Book for her birthday last week. Boy if Shania was the lead singer for them, we'd probably be on our way to Timmins right now! I also bought her a hunky 2001 Fireman's Calendar. Now before you start thinking bad thoughts, it ranks about the same as a Shania calendar. I mean it is just some real firemen dressed in their gear for charity. Of course they all seem to be missing shirts and none of them appears to be over 30, and one is even a girl. To clarify, she does have a shirt on! She asked if it bothered me that she would be looking at these hunky guys for the next year, and I replied no more than she should be concerned over my Shania Millennium Calendar. http://www.shania-twain.org/messages/biggrin.gif http://www.shania-twain.org/messages/wink.gif

I seem to have the same problem with my husband as some of you guys do with your wifes. I got my hubby to go to one Shania concert with me, but when I tried getting him to go to a second one, he said nope! Once was enough for him. He told me that I go overboard when it comes to Shania. My son told me that I was obsessed. My hubby said that she has good music and she is one good looking woman but he just doesn't get into one singer or group, not like I do! So it's nice to come to the fan club and see that I'm not the only one that is so into Shania! Needless to say when I asked my hubby if he wanted to come with me when we made the trip to Timmins, he of course said no, isn't anything up there I want to see. So, I am making plans on coming up with 2 or 3 other Shania fans from the club that are here in Ohio! Haven't decided if we will drive all the way up there ourselves or catch that bus out of Detroit, which I'm sure will be a real blast! I can't wait to meet you all!!! It will be real fun finally meeting and placing a face with all those that I have been keeping up on all these messages! Even though I don't post a lot, I most always read all that is posted and that is because my hubby sometimes carries on about me spending to much time as he says oh Shania stuff again! But then I guess some of you guys know what I'm talking about. I can't wait till Timmins! It will be one great time!!!

Whoever said their wife doesn't get in an uproar about celeberties because they're just people too, that's my hubby to a tee.

For you guys, maybe your wives just want to be assured that if the house was burning and your wife and Shania were in there you would save your wife first. Or just that you would choose your wife over Shania if you saw them in a room. If this isn't true, remind yourselves that Shania wouldn't choose you because she has Mutt, so yes you would choose your wife! LOL

Seriously, walk in and hug your wife and then kiss her for at least 10 seconds, you'll be amazed the effect it will have.

When the time is right ask your wife if she would listen to a certain Shania song because you want to know if this is really how women think. This just might get her hooked. But you must always adore your wife more than Shania or at least appear to. Especially if she feels inferior to her.
Nuff said.

Gee, I liked what Mary said, and now Joni you have hit the nail right on the head. It's like you were reading my mind. I have tried in recent years to be more attentive, more like you indicated Joni, kissy/huggy. Of course I want to point out I'm talking about my wife and not Shania, ha, ha! She is very savvy about things she worked for the State Human Services Department for nearly 30 years. She has a keen sense about things. Anyway, Joni, I subscribe to Men's Health Magazine. Yeah, they do a lot of stuff in there about becoming Mr. Universe, and your sex life, etc., but they also have a lot of informative articles about the things we are talking about. My wife reads it too. Sometimes she'll laugh and say: "God, you guys really think weird about things!" She never elaborates. So I'll come back with: "I understand M/H a lot better than Woman's Day which always has these articles like 25,000 ways to make your man better!" Those articles are usually foreign to me. Joni you also made a good point about picking and choosing. To me, my wife is the most beautiful girl in the world and I would always choose her first. I would always save her first before Shania or anyone else, except for my kids of course. Now playing a song for her opinion, I will have to think about that one. http://www.shania-twain.org/messages/smile.gif http://www.shania-twain.org/messages/smile.gif http://www.shania-twain.org/messages/smile.gif http://www.shania-twain.org/messages/smile.gif http://www.shania-twain.org/messages/smile.gif

Well guys, I have a totally different senario. My husband and I both are really into Shania. I couldn't imagine one of us not. We have always shared a passion for everything together, except maybe crafts and that's his territory. Too tedious for me. I really feel for those of you who have a spouse that is not into Shania as you are, or who will not even give her a chance. They are totally missing out on a great experience and person to share with you.
This topic I'm sure belongs in the What have you done for Shania, but I have to say it here. My husband new I wanted backstage passes for Shania last summer (99) even though she was not doing meet and greets. A local radio station was having a Shania look a like contest to ride the Coors Tour bus which Coors was sponsoring Shania at the time and to arrive backstage. He entered the contest and won one of three spots. Boy did that take guts. It was held at a local country bar, so you can imagine the crowd and the remarks.
We didn't get to meet Shania, but did get to see the band members sitting backstage on the patio eating and relaxing, saw Shania's buses and did get to meet Shane Minor who was touring with Shania, plus his band members. Shared a few beers with Shane and he even took us on a tour of his bus. Got pictures of all of them. It was totally awesome.
My husband did this mostly for me, but he wanted it too.
Sorry for the long post.
