http://www.mpz.co.uk/cwm/otn/party/party.gif Alright everyone, let's talk food. I have heard from some people who said they were bringing munchies. But there will be at least 40 people at the party and a few people with muchies won't get it! So please sound off if you want to bring something, or, I guess I could check in Timmins and get a veggie platter and dips, or maybe a four foot sub, just sound off with your thoughts.
I would hate to see 40 people and only have two bags of chips! That would make me a bad hostess and to put it bluntly I can't feed all of you Shania Crazed Fans!!!!! http://www.ihs4ever.com/~cwm/otn/party/bdaywink.gif

Hi Joni I agree a few munchies just won,t do
it. Since I work in the restaurant field I
would be glad to help out any way I can. Maybe after we check into the hotel on Thursday a few of us could go shopping. If
you point me in the right direction to and from a supermarket I would be happy to go shopping and purchase some goodies or if you
want to do a veggie tray and dip or a sub I
will gladly make a donation towards the cost.
Just let me know whatever you decide I will
be available for anything you would like to do.

See you soon.

Joni, I think the veggie platter & dip & subs will be good, how about pizza?! I'm bringing some munchies but I can help out on the food cost, maybe you could put out a jar for donations for food cost. Mary R

Deb and I will be glad to bring whatever you'd like but if we don't get some assigned food duties I'm afraid everyone will bring the same thing, also there's drinks. Joni would you consider sorta assigning things to people or at least create a posted list of what would be needed and nice and let people pick what they want to bring. More likely to cover the bases better that way. And remember this is a Shania party! ? Vegetarian foods? ? Krispy Kremes? and if Warrior's gona be there no Dr Pepper or Root Beer! DOC

Well I have to agree that we do need party foods, and this really should be organized. Since we are suppose to meet for dinner on the 28th, right, then why don't we put a list together of what we need and who can bring it what. This way there is no confusion. For those of you who are not arriving until the 29th, perhaps we could assign something to you that would be fairly easy. What do you all think?

Sorry doc, no Krispy Kremes in Timmins. You're gonna have to settle for Tim Hortons. http://www.shania-twain.org/messages/biggrin.gif

Well, well well..I see the attention here has shifted from the Shania Centre to the Donuts! How surpring! LOL http://www.shania-twain.org/messages/biggrin.gif Anyways, I think Tee had a good idea..once we sit together in Timmins and we know what types of food we can get there we will be able to split assignments easily..I am sure we will have enough food ..all the suggestions made sound good to me! veggie platter, chips, DONUTS, pizza, cookies, cheese..all the usual.. http://www.shania-twain.org/messages/smile.gif This could be a sort of rehearsal for the picnic in a certain way..on Sunday, we could simply bring our own food or split assignments again, or eat the leftovers from the night before! LOL http://www.shania-twain.org/messages/biggrin.gif

I just checked with "Flurries" a grocery store in Timmins. We could get two combo platters which include meats, cheesses, grapes and strawberries and a veggie platter which includes carrots, celery, Broccoli, Cherry Tomatoes, and english cucumbers. Dinner rolls could be purchased. Add chips to that. We could cover this if all members paid $6.00. Now the majority of you are bringing at least one other person so your really paying 6 for two or three or whatever. And this is canadian dollars. the Combo meat trays are 34.99 and the veggie is 29.99. Figure tax and the rolls and chips and based on 20 actual members you see where I get the $6. We could break it down per person if need be. Let me know your thoughts. I was just thinking with a picnic the next day it's easier to just have something ready made for Saturday. Now you would have to bring your own drinks......Sound Off!!!!!!

I'll bring all the drinks (remember that we will not be allowed to have alcohol at the party for several reasons....hotel management first, minors invited second, and so forth...just to avoid troubles, the PicNic is another story..... http://www.shania-twain.org/messages/smile.gif So I will bring sodas, water, juices for about 40 people free of charge for all the people invited! http://www.shania-twain.org/messages/smile.gif I think CAN $6 per member including spouse/kids is rather reasonable...what do you think? I am in! http://www.shania-twain.org/messages/smile.gif

Joni thanks for looking ahead.

Irene & Teresa, great ideas.

FV you are a good sport.

Any kind of cake is okay with me, no matter what shape it's in. Chocolate is my favorite.

If there is to be root beer or Dr. P, it should be Lite! http://www.shania-twain.org/messages/tongue.gif

Someday I will have a krispy Creme, but for now I will settle for Tim Horton since I've never had any of those either. http://www.shania-twain.org/messages/frown.gif

If you want pizza, the best deal is town is at 3-4-1 pizza. they have a large pepperoni and cheeze walk in special @ 4.99 per pizza
(that's 5.74 taxes in) no limit as to how many you can get, the catch, you have to pick them up.

264-0341

(a Don's Large pizza runs about $12... Personnaly, I think they make the worst pizza in town)

For a nice meal try Cozy Corner Restaurant, next to the Senator (chinese/canadian cuisine). This was one of Shania's haunts when she played with Longshot (she wasn't a vegetarian back then). The former Owner (alex tai) used to keep the restaurant open so we could go in for a bite after the gig.

Alex now runs AJ's Kitchen in Downtown Timmins (between pine and Second avenue)

mrrex,
Thanks for the tips.
Does the 3-4-1 mean 3 toppings for price of one? 3 pizzas for price of one? Is it just the best price in town or is the quality best also?

The rest,
I can help pick up the pizza. Are we increasing the chance of staining rugs, drapes, etc with pizza, versus say subs & combo trays? 40 people in one suite! I'll have to bring the average down by coming alone. Maybe I should bring some trash bags for the clean up.

3-4-1 means you get 3 pizzas for the price of one...As for Tim Hortons.??? You won't be disappointed..That is one of our hottest donut franchises here in timmins.. You will find them all across Canada...Be prepared though when you come to Timmins there are two taxes you pay of groceries..GST and PST...15% total sales tax. There is also a Chez Nouz restaurant here that makes the most awesome POUTINE> Shania used to eat there all the time...Knowing that there will be a lot of out of towners these restaurants may keep longer hours...Hope you all enjoy your stay here.. Be prepared because Timmins has some VERY friendly people. That's why they call us the City With A Heart of Gold...

Thanx, Joanne, for the tips on where to eat. As a Canadian I have been trying to convince our US friends that Tim Hortons is worth a try but they keep raving on about Krispe Kremes! I also described that artery-clogging delicacy - poutine. You're right, everyone I have had any dealings with in Timmins has been very friendly. I am looking forward to meeting you all.

3-4-1 is just the name of the business...unless you are willing to pay $15 for a large pepperoni and cheese Pizza. It's not heart clogging with the fat just dripping of the side Pizza Hut good, but it is the best for the price, as good as any other pizzeria in town. (except Don's, they are so much better than Don's, at least that's my opinion...and you know what they say about opinions....)

Joni,

Ok, acknowledge your post that food platters it is. Shall we leave pizza out then, at least for the party in the Shania Suite?

On another note, do you know the fire code for limit of persons in the room(s) for the party? We don't want to pay a sudden, surprise visit to the guy in the bathtup next floor below, like happened at a party in Israel recently.

mrrex,
Thanks for the added info. about pizzerias and other eateries.

Joni
06-22-2001, 09:10 PM
That's right, no pizza for the Suite! I did mention that we would have 40 or so in the Suite, they know there is going to be a party, no one has said "no". I'll ask the question though so all will feel at ease.
