SheDaisy Preparing Second Country = Album
By Gayl = Murphy
The three sisters of SheDaisy aren't exactly = country traditionalists — but as they prepare their follow-up to = their 1999 breakthrough debut, The Whole SheBang, the girls say = they aren't aiming to "cross over" to pop.=0A=

=0A= "We're not trying to fit into a crossover record; we're not trying to = fit into making a country record," Kelsi Osborn says. "In fact, when we = get finished with some of the stuff, we look at it and go, 'OK, nobody = may get this, nobody may buy it — but at least we feel good about = it.'"=0A=

=0A= Though Kelsi's been working with sisters Kassidy and Kristyn for 12 = years in Nashville (they were raised in Utah), the sisters agree that = the sound and image of country's capitol has changed quite a bit over = the years, with the success of acts like Shania = Twain and Faith = Hill.=0A=

=0A= "The styles definitively have changed, and you kind of change with the = times," Kelsi says of the group's image. "The cool thing is that you = can still sing about what you're passionate about and it doesn't matter = what you're wearing."=0A=

=0A= As for its music, the group — which was nominated for new artist = awards at last year's American Music Awards and the Academy of Country = Music awards — is happy with the term "country."=0A=

=0A= "We call it country because it's so middle America — and it's the = same thing we've done for as long as we've been singing together. = Country music has evolved so much, I don't know anymore, but I wouldn't = call it traditional — but it is country. That's where we want to = be and that's where we'll stay."=0A= =0A=
