First off, Dax....your sketch came pretty close :D The video was like watching Japanese Anime.

Now..... Warrior should be freaking out about now, "Shania the warrior" driving her flying motorcycle will put her over the edge.

It was like a Sci-fi version "You Win My Love". I liked it.

Now, if Shania is really inventive....we will get the Gonna Getcha video game...watch out Lara Croft.....Shania's gonna getcha..lol :p

Hmmmm...does anyone know if VH1 will play the pop version?

I just checked VH1's website, and the only times they play videos on Saturday is from 6:00 am to 10:00 am.

From 6 to 7 is "CardioVideo", whatever that is.

From 7 to 9 they show blocks of videos.

From 9 to 10 is "Fresh New Music".

I'll check tomorrow to see if VH1 plays the pop IGGG during any of these shows.

Bang on, Raider. Not only is the pop version of the music better, but so is the pop video. When I first saw the pop video, I found myself noticing Shania's figure (an occupational hazard for any male...LOL) and seeing what subtle changes motherhood has brought to it. Then I thought wait a minute! How come I didn't notice this first time when I saw the country video? Well for one thing, we get MMM on digital so both the picture and especially the sound were better but it is more than that. I rewatched both videos. Well, no wonder I didn't notice Shania's figure before. The country video modestly focusses in close in head and shoulder shots and full face shots. The pop video shows full figure which is not only better for males to ogle but allows greater expressivity of body language for Shania.

Hmmm...does the pop IGGG video seem "too hot for CMT"? I can't imagine how it would be more sexual than, say, Shania's TDIMM or MIFLAW videos, which CMT plays all the time.

I agree with preferring that the video go with the lyrics. Love the hair! I myself would like to see more full shots (not for the same reason as Roger though) the outfit looks really cool when she walks out!

My son wants the robot chasing Shania and the motocycle:) My daughter thought it was "Cool". And my husband would have liked it better if the shots didn't go back and forth...he just wanted to see the chase sequenceOO- He cracks me up! But he did watch it with me and that was a miracle within itself! He prefers "from a video reference" MIFLAW because he gets the humour of it (Robert Palmer) and DBS he thought the water and clogging were original.......he's so cute;)

I think the video will be embraced more by VH1....but CMT please make a liar out of me:)

Maybe. Shania is always sexy because, well, she just is. But her moves are not suggestive in my opinion. If anyone thinks Shania is behaving in a suggestive manner in this video, they must have been living under a rock for the last generation. If Nashville finds that risqué, there is no hope for them. There is another possible reason - her futuristic outfit is just so darned uncountry and they don't want you to notice. That of course is ridiculous. It can't escape anyone's attention that the setting is not exactly the back forty either!!

I liked the pop version best. She sure sounds, and looks, fantastic. I wouldn't want to try and guess what it cost to make this puppy, but I bet I could retire on it.:D :D

I'm trying to find out, Debbie, but I can't find anything concrete. My best guess is that it might be played on their "Fresh New Music" video show, which airs from 9 AM to 10 AM EST tomorrow morning (Saturday morning). But I don't know that for sure.

This is a good point. One of the execs of our local country station just pointed out to me that only Shania can afford to put out different versions of her CDs. This is certainly the ideal way to cross over.

This may not be the right topic for this thread but I really think Shania has a good shot at making Up! the best selling CD of all time. She may not be interested in statistics per se but I believe she is still competitive and will not rest professionally until she has gone just as far as she possibly can. So now she has a huge organization and huge money behind her to give it the marketing push it needs. Nothing is done on the cheap - double CD album for dual markets and double versions of already fabulously expensive videos. As far as I am concerned, good luck to her! She and Mutt are the greatest songwriting duo of our time. Both the songwriting and Shania's performances have enormous depth and breadth.

I just saw it on CMT. I did watch the computer play back about an hour before. It was the same video, but because the TV has a much better picture than my computer, I got to see it in a "different light".
I loved it!!!!!! Maybe the director was trying to explain the words "I'm Gonna Getcha Good" by showing Shania trying to get her clone.
The best part of the CMT broadcast was after the video previewed, they had someone from the audience give his comments. He said it was fantastic. They also had a clip from Shania making the video and her personally talking about the concept of the video. All in all the reactions from the audience and the hosts of the show were very positive.

Shania's video is outstanding. Dare I say one of the best videos CMT has ever had on the show Artistic wise. Shania looks and sounds great!!:) Love the song, it's her all the way. You gotta love it ...Shaniamania is back bigger and better! I didn't think anything could top MIFLW video my personal Fav but this one is amazing! I cried as soon as I saw her. Am I nuts or what? Well, after reading this thread and watching the video a million times, I am really really liking it. It is her best creatively done video. Better than those pipe and smoke in the desert in TDIMM. I think there might be some symbolism in the video.....

I was thinking, the character she plays on the motorcycle is "Shania", and the singer in the box, is "Eilleen". Shania smashes the window, letting Eilleen out, maybe a reflection of what is in store on this album. She did say Mutt captured that side of her during the recording of the album....Just a thought.

I thought about this, since TDIMM was directed by the same person, and there is some symbolism in that video....

TDIMM, she was dressed as a "leopard" which is an endangered spieces, their biggest predator is man. In the video, all the men are after Shania.

I still say...VIDEO GAME!!

OH MY GOSH! I LOVED THE VIDEO! It was fantastic! Shania was Great! Not to mention BEAUTIFUL in it! The computer graphics were awesome! But I am so jealous of those that got to see the pop version. VH1 better be playing IGGG video real quick! SHANIA IS BACK!

What can i say that has not already been said...

I'd like to give my oppinion NOT as a Shania fan but as someone in the industry and as a voting member of the CCMA's. Basicly what that means is that even if i wasn't a Shania fan, i would still tell you what i a about to tell you now...

As good as the song is, the video blows anything and everything else out of the water! I have seen MANY videos and nothing touches this, but more importantly... In the year to fallow, no video IN ANY GENDRE (POP, Country, Rock ect...) will beat it, match it or even come close to it!

I can Officialy tell you right here and now that at the 2003 CCMA awards, she'll win at the very least "Video of the Year". It's in the bag! She should also win the same award at the 2003 CMA awards, unless they "snub" her.

I would like to point out that not every artist can afford such a hi-tech video... Such a video has a budjet of over 1 Mil. If not more... 7 figures at the very least! So that's another reason why she'll get the award, very few artists can compete with her here. Only the really, really big names could afford such a video.

Now on another subject. I remember before COO came out, i though the album would be good but i didn't think it would beat WIM... How wrong i was! Now a few years ago, i remember thinking about the changes and evolution between WIM and COO and finding that as good as COO was... She hadden't reached her true potential yet. I then predicted that her next album (title unknown at the time) would be her best ever! I'm going to stick with that prediction and say that with this album (UP), she will hit the peek of her career!

I'm even going to "one up" that and predict that not only will "UP" become the most sold album ever but, in the following year or so... Shania Twain WILL become "THE" most popular female artist on the globe bar none! Everyone else will take a back seat to her, including a certain female artist from the province of Quebec who untill now, always managed to be ahead of her... No more!

Shania's time has finally come.

I think Shania is going to have the same track record with the CMA's as she has always had, they will snub her big time. They have never embraced her. To them she is an outsider, and I think they see her as a threat.

IGGG stands out big time on USA country radio, you can tell "Shania's Back" since there is someting new and fresh sounding on the dial. :D She just showed Nashville how creatively dead they are.

I have been watching Viva, a German video channel all day, but they have not got the video yet.
It is the only video channel I have and I am suffering listening to all that bad bad music. Gimme Shania! ;)
Really looking forward to seeing the both video version when I get the chance. I am not the most patient person, so a wait of one or two weeks is going to kill me! :p

I mentioned something about symbolism in the video before, maybe the robot represents the music industry in nashville, always chasing her, and of course they are unsuccesful in catching her.

Some other symbols in her other videos:

YWML...Shania is the trophy to be won.
FTMO....the doors represent choices / oppportunities in life

Unfortunately I don't get CMT so all I have been able to see so far is the .com version and I gotta tell you-I'm impressed already. What a video! I can't wait to see it on real video. I agree with Seb-she's gonna blow everything on the planet outta the water. Suddenly all the wait and frustration over the long absence seems meaningless-quality is what it's all about guys-and this stuff is of the highest quality and is being presented in a highly inovative fashion. Shania not only knows the business-she is the business! She's the Package! But then we all knew that-Right? DOC

Yes, You and I Kirppu, the only people on planet earth who have NOT seen Shania's new video. Like you I saw the online video and laughed at a Black and White Shania "thing" jerking around the screen like "it" was a puppet on a string...

Ooh that won the Eurovision Song Contest, did it not for the UK, Sandi Shaw, did a Shania and went on stage doing exactly what she wanted to do and to heck with anyone who was not going to at least keep and open mind on things... She danced barefoot...

I watched in awe the video. Shania is back and warnings should go out to the rest of the field of contenders. Now my son-in-law and my daughter are not much fans of Shania, but I noticed they were glued to the video. I think they were impressed to say the least.:)

I thought about this, since TDIMM was directed by the same person, and there is some symbolism in that video....

TDIMM, she was dressed as a "leopard" which is an endangered spieces, their biggest predator is man. In the video, all the men are after Shania.

I still say...VIDEO GAME!!

I saw this video, and simply loved it . What I see is this, Shania plays herself twice. The current day Shania looks at her wild side in the future, dashing and finding herself and running from all the symbols, robots, and other objects that want to catch her and change her. The futuristic shania represents Artistic Freedom, and no constraints. The Robots and others chasing her represent the nonsayers. The present day Shania sees her futuristic self as a fantasy, is taken 1000 years from now, and represents her career in the future. The current day Shania meets her futuristic self, and this Video in my opinion signifies a rush from her present music to her future, a complete crossover to a change in style in music and visual effects. AS for me, this is up there with the best videos I have ever seen,,,,,

I have watched the video on line a bunch of times, it gets better with every viewing, there is so much to see. I think the video really captures her personality. The little smiles, her laughing, when she jumps the bike...this video is so Shania.

Here's a thought! Let me know what you think. Could maybe Shania being chased by the robot represent how in a relationship the woman lets the man think he is chasing after her when in fact it's vice versa but he doesn't know it. And then wham, he's hooked and she's got him good! Shania let the robot think that he was chasing after her but in reality she was letting him. As he got real close, did you notice how as she was riding her cycle she kept turning around to see if he was still after her and when she turned back forward again she was smiling. And when he finally was close enough to catch her, she got through the door just in time as it closed and the robot smashed into it, maybe represetning he had been gotten good, he never knew what hit him, "Im Gonna Getcha Good"! And then after getting her man, he helped her bring out her real innerself! Is this concept too off the wall?

FINALLY I was able to see it!!!!!!!!!!

Now the Mercury link worked for me. The quality is 100 times better than the cmt.com one. Maybe because I chose Media Player to play it. Real Player gives me gray hair :rolleyes:

I love reading what you think the concept of the video means. I bet Shania would get a kick out of it too. Isn't the truth though she let the director come up with it and pitch it to her? Didn't it say somewhere she gave him a lot of freedom? Of course we'll get all the info on the show about making the video!

Shania is a control freak, I bet she had something to do with the overall concept, if she didn't like it, it would not have been done. Oh, that guitar pic is awesome, is definilty looks like one of those old publicity photos of Shania.

Well, the cycle in the video was all computer generated, but according to the interview on Wetten-Dass, Shania said she does know how to ride a motorcycle, similiar to the motorcross bikes. Isn't there anything this woman can't do??? She's like a Swiss Army knife...lol :p

Shania isn't very sexy in it (i think it is the worst look she had since she released TWIM, at least in all the videos I saw), the video itself leaves me kinda cold, Shania's close up and dance is very repetitive, and I'm not fond of the song anyway... Hope UP! comes quickly for me to try the other 18 songs !

If she has success with this song then great ! :o

I can't wait to see it on TV, I bet the detail is even better. Shania's acting and re-acting to objects not really there is really good, she is more animated than Natilie Portman was in Star Wars: Attack of the Clones. The only place I can tell where they might have screwed up is at the very end, when Shania throws the eye through the glass, her reacting to the throw, she is looking a little to high, but that's the special effects teams fault, they weren't keeping track of eye lines.

I hope there is eventually an extended version of this video, maybe on the single CD, or even better on a future DVD. This video is just crying out for some sound effects, and some other insert special effects shots would be cool too!!!

Things I would love to see.....

When Shania walks out to the bike have her wearing something different, have that black outfit morph onto her, kinda like the batmobile armor does in the movie batman.

When she starts the bike, insert a shot of the controls turning on, like they do in anime cartoons.

Sound effects, the bike turning on, its engines, the rockets, the robot's rockets and lasers, just add sound for everything, skidding, the explosions when the robot gets destroyed.

When shania looks over her shoulder have some sort of heads up display appear for a few seconds, again similiar to the anime cartoons.

Have an extended ending, have either the two Shania's switch places, or have them both take off on bikes, or have the shania that is freed morph into some sort of mecha, and fly away, and the other take off on her bike.

If they did any of this I would be in total scifi heaven.

It's perfectly OK if you do not like it..we are here for you brother..:) I bet you would like better the POP version of the video...this video is very different from what Shania has done before...mind you from what many other artists have done before..and I need to find out more about Paul Boyd because I suspect this is a first for him too...
Try to watch it again..don't concentrate on the song, just enjoy the video ....Have you already heard the pop version of the song? which radio station is playing in France? Have you seen Shania's performance on Wetten, Dass..? That was veryhigh energy stuff! Lots of fun! and no robots...;)

This is a tough forum in which to be negative about Shania...LOL

I agree with you that Shania's movements are a little repetitive. I actually noticed that myself but the video as a whole is very dynamic. I don't know how old you are. I know there is a whole generation out there raised on Star Wars that just loves the futuristic settings and animation. I don't. But I do have an eye for great poses from a beautiful woman and this video is full of them. I don't know what consitutes sexy in a woman for you. If it is exposing lots of flesh, then Shania isn't sexy in this. By the time you get to my age, lots of flesh doesn't impress much any more but beauty and attitude do and, in that way, Shania is indeed sexy.

As for the song, it isn't my favourite either but I still like it a lot. Anyway, don't worry. There are 18 more songs on Up! there have to be some you like!

I can't wait to see the pop version of the video. I have seen scans from it, and Shania does move a lot more than you can see in the country version. Like you said Tower, Shania looks good in anything. She is one classy lady, and I think that is why she is so appealing, Shania doesn't have to show skin to be sexy.

I think the song and video are AWESOME. We know not everyone is going to like it but that's their choice. We as diehard true fans are going to support Shania no matter what. That's what true fans do. It's like a marriage you are in it for "better or worse."

So let's just enjpy this new music until November when we get to hear the rest of what we have been waiting on for so long. Then as we listen to the magic that Shania and Mutt have created on the album go to #1 on the charts we will have the last laugh and we can say "I told you so"

HI DEE!! LOL :D :D, what a great piece to give a talk on . I love it and it is a good idea. My boss called me the other day, I have a meeting with excecutive management this Wednesday with the President of the company, and all the excecutive Vice presidents for my 25 anniversary and honorary award, One of the VPs called and said they are doing a mini Biography in their presentation of my award to me. They asked me what my interests and hobbies are. Well you can imagine the first thing that came out of my mouth , Shania!!! I work for a huge company that have affiliates in Canada as well. So I am sure Shania will be getting some publicity too. I am sure they will be asking questions about her, and I will certainly accomodate them. So between the Giants, A`s, 49ers, Raiders, and Shania, I am going to have to answer a lot of questions LOL LOL :). Did you see the video for "I'm Gonna Getcha Good?" Youngsters are going to love the whole concept behind it. All of the special effects will be eye-candy for the kids, and beautiful Shania will be the eye-candy for the guys. Of course the actual song will connect with the females out there...and the seniors will love the catchy beat and lyrics. That is all of the demographics wrapped up. With a few clever marketing tools, Mercury has a set-up that will result in huge first week sales of this album and I will be the first to predict a number one record at Country radio!

I just saw MWL, with the premiere of the video, and they mentioned Shania was in makeup, just getting ready to film for 6 hours. Well, now that Shania has been scanned by a computer, for the CGI effects, they could easily make that IGGG Shania computer game. :p

Or, Shania IGGG action figures, with the robot, the bike, etc. Then of course, they could do action figures for all the videos...lol

This is just too fun...... :D

Let's see..... I think we will need to model this line after the Star Wars line of action figures, so we divide these into different "play sets", along with some exclusive figures in the playets As well as the seperate figures. So, the figures need to be 3 1/2 inches high, so they can fit into all those cool Star Wars vehicles too!! :D

Individual figures:
Shania from every video.
Shania on tour, this could be couple of figures in the different outfits she wore on tour.
Award show Shania, a series of figures dressed in outfits from her appearances at award shows, and an extra bubble pack crammed with all the awards she has won.

Well, every cool action figure needs cool vehicles.....
We'll need the race cars from YWML, the horses from TWIM, the bike from IGGG. Each vehicle would come with an exclusive Shania figure from the video. This would be different from the figure you can get seperatly. Also, Shania's BMW roadster too.

Playsets
One can be made for most of the videos, they would again come with an exclusive Shania action figure, and accessories from the video. [Vehicles would not be included]

Then we can have special limited editions, available at certain retail outlets........

"The Tour": This would include Shania's tour bus and a horse trailer, and can be used with any of the individual Shania figures and comes with an exclusive figures...Tim and Dancer. Some accessories to include in the bus: guitar, phone, couch, bowls of fruit.

"Stage Shania": This would be a playset of the stage, so you can re-create the show you just saw...lol so we can throw in exclusive figures of the "Fabulous Falls", and the stage can have sounds. So when you press a button, you hear sounds from a show. Accesories...instruments, microphones, flowers.

"Out in the bush Shania": Tent, camping accesories and a guitar. A figure of Shania just kicking back between shows.

Okay, the toy line needs something girls woud like, so we have to include "The Swiss Mansion Shania Playset":rolleyes:
This would include everything you would need to fill a house. Additonal house accesories could be sold seperatly too. Definitly would need to include a studio in this play set. Now, to make this a highly collectible set, the first 3000 which would be numbered, would include "Mutt".

So, think we are ready to propose this to Shania...lol :p

OOOooow the marketing prospects are immense, and by the time you add all the Band members (Shania and Allison for the line dance routine) you are talking 40 maybe 50 collectables at say ohh $40 each, with a Shania UPgrade for the 2003 tour, split the world into say 5 regions with an extra special Indian version....

Great idea.....

The "Shania flashback collection"
-Deerhurst figures

then the album tie in...send in 10 proofs of purchases and get an an exclusive figure, of Shania dressed like the Up! cover, with an autographed CD.

Then the STC tie in....
Every summer have an exclusive Shania figure just sold at the STC.

Woohoo! Indian Shania! :)

Don't forget the "Magazine Collection". We'd get FHM Shania, Rolling Stone Shania, Cosmo Shania, etc.

Ok..once this action figure line takes off, we move to the 12" shania action figure collection [just like the star wars collection has].

These would have actual cloth clothes, and be based on the smaller figures.

Then when these start to sell, then make exclusive 12" figures "Shania Signature Edition" limited numbers, these would be figures Shania personally signed.

Hey Spock all those hours watching Startrek really paid off .. now we have to think of posts within the new Company and (of course) a really cool trading name... Hmm tough one that.

You could be the Principle director, or how about ('cause you have some really cool idea's) Head of Sales and Marketing, that way you could make up endless excuses to fly of and meet Shania for "marketing meetings"

I would like to be Publicity, yes do all the sound bites and TV spots... Hmm then I would not get to meet Shania... Think you got the best deal there Chris!

So we are all agreed on the Product line, but what to call the Company... ?:confused:
