NEW YORK, April 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Country music legend and American icon Willie Nelson will be joined by some of the biggest names in music for the special concert event, Willie Nelson and Friends: Live and Kickin.' Additional performers and presenters join the previously announced all-star line-up as they come together and perform in celebration of Willie's 70th birthday in the 2-hour telecast to air exclusively on USA Network on Memorial Day, Monday, May 26th at 9:00 p.m. (ET/PT). The announcement was made today by Elizabeth Porter Hogan, vice president, reality programming and specials, USA Network.
Willie Nelson and Friends: Live and Kickin' will tape Wednesday, April 9th at the Beacon Theatre in New York City.
The all-star musical lineup includes Ray Charles, Kenny Chesney, Eric Clapton, Sheryl Crow, Wycleff Jean, Norah Jones, Toby Keith, Kris Kristofferson, Jerry Lee Lewis, Lyle Lovett, John Mellencamp, Shelby Lynne, Ray Price, Leon Russell, Paul Simon, Shania Twain, Steven Tyler and ZZ Top.
There will also be special appearances by Whoopi Goldberg (Ghost, The Color Purple), Ethan Hawke (Training Day, Hamlet), Matthew McConaughey (How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, The Wedding Planner) and Ali McGraw (Love Story, Glam).
Encore presentations of Willie Nelson and Friends: Live and Kickin' will air on USA Network immediately following the premiere from 11:00-1:00 a.m, as well as on Saturday, May 31 from 2:00-4:00 a.m. and Sunday, June 1 at 9:00-11:00 a.m.
Willie Nelson and Friends: Live and Kickin' is produced by USA Network and Automatic Productions. The event is produced and directed by Jeb Brien and is executive produced by Mark Rothbaum.
