Disney/Weinsteins split has J.Lo/Redford movie just languishing; no date set


Q: I've been waiting for ``An Unfinished Life'' with Jennifer Lopez and Robert Redford and have heard nothing about it recently. Can you help me? -- Kim T., Akron.

A: Kim, think of An Unfinished Life as one of many children stuck in the middle of a divorce between their parents. In this case, the parents are Walt Disney Studios and Bob and Harvey Weinstein, founders of Miramax Films.

It's been well known that it hasn't always been a comfortable relationship since Disney bought Miramax and allowed the Weinsteins to run it. The edgy movies that the Weinstein brothers like to make, such as Kids and Priest, didn't go very well with Disney's ``family'' image and the Mouse House took a beating for it from some folks.

Everything came to a head last year, when Disney didn't want anything to do with Fahrenheit 9/11, forcing the Weinsteins to seek another distributor. That led to the recent settlement that will have the two camps parting ways, with the Weinsteins getting a roster of films and Disney getting a list of flicks and the Miramax name. Included in the Mouse House's list: An Unfinished Life, which still has no release date. Hope this helps in some small way.

The new rumor, coming from Entertainment Weekly is, that the movie will be released to theaters in September.

I hope the rumor is true.;)

Well that was also an old rumour.... unfortunately..

Well, or if it will be released toward the Oscars, or it will be selved for good.

But some articles about Lopez mentioned the fact, that she will start to make a new movie, after she fulfill her obligation to promote "An Unfinished Life" and another one.
So maybe there is hope.

Let's keep our fingers crossed....
But really unfortunate it went this way..:(
