You mean these pictures..........

In an emotional conversation, Shania, who had never before performed with Dolly Parton, told Oprah she was so nervous to sing with her childhood hero. She fulfilled a lifelong dream—right here in the studio!

"Dolly wrote a lot of very true-to-her-heart songs. I started writing when I was eight years old—this is when Dolly was just really going strong. And I learned how to play guitar. I basically wanted to be Dolly Parton. And I wanted to learn how to write songs like her; I felt the music that she wrote. She's such an emotional singer. I know she's a country artist, but I hate to say that—she's just a soul artist."

She's kicked down all the doors in showbiz, and after more than 40 years in the music industry, she's written and published more than 3,000 songs. A new CD pays tribute to Dolly Parton, but the country music queen says she hates to be called a "legend."

"It makes you feel a little old, but it makes you feel a lot proud," Dolly says. "It makes me very emotional to think that I have touched somebody's life…and to know that you could write something or say something or mean something to them. It really is touching."

Melissa Etheridge has been breaking down barriers for years—she's a hard-rockin', openly gay female performer selling millions of records. Melissa recently married actress Tammi Lynn Michaels in a beautiful ceremony at Dick Clark's California home.

Melissa: [The decision to get married] was complicated. It's very intense...

Shania: And here you are flirting with Dolly Parton!

Dolly: We worked together recently, and she asked me if I believed in same-sex marriages. I said, "Hell, yeah! Why shouldn't you folks suffer like us married people?"

LMAO@Shania!!!

Shania Twain fulfills a life-long dream—sharing the stage with her idol, Dolly Parton.

Together, they perform Dolly's song, "Coat of Many Colors." The song, from the Dolly Parton tribute CD, Just Because I'm a Woman, has always had a special place in Shania's heart.

Back for one more, it's Shania Twain! Here, she performs a song celebrating women—"Not Just a Pretty Face" from her latest CD, Up!

Yeah, thanks Chris for posting them. That first one sees right into the soul of Shania, IMO. :)

Here in the Chicago area the Oprah show is broadcast at 9am Central time so I've seen the show already....rather than make comments here before others have a chance to see it in their time zones, I just want to say it's wonderful!!!!!! Don't forget to tape it. The only thing I'll say is that toward the end of Shania and Dolly singing "Coat of Many Colors" they show two shots of Oprah in the audience singing along and Shanai's sister Carrie can be seen on the front row just behind Oprah's right shoulder. Also she uses her band for SNJAPF and in the closing Credits Oprah mentions that song is gonna be the new theme....whether that happens is yet to be seen. There are alot of really cool things about the interview and how Shania acts that we can share together in this thread but before you see it, I don't wanna spoil the fun for you.....so lets post later :)

The show usually airs around 4pm, but since most of us are at work, I guess we won't see it until almost 6pm. If you have Oxygen Network, tune in a 7pm to see "After The Show"

I only have rabbit ears (no cable or sattelite) I'll hafta find out if my neighbors have oxygen and take my tape over to them to record it for me.

What an absolute thrill this must be for Shania, to meet one of her idols, and to actually get to sing with her. WOW.

She must have felt as happy as some of her lucky fans feel when they get to meet Shania.

:D :D :D

Only wish I was one of the lucky ones (LOL)

Can't wait to get home to hit my VCR and see the show - and then to see the "aftershow" on Oxygen.

The images are great - Shania truly looks so happy and is having a great time with Dolly - Kudos to Oprah on getting them together.

SHANIA ON "OPRAH"

What an absolute thrill. This was a wonderful show. I've never seen Shania more herself or as comfortable as she was with Oprah and Dolly.

I don't want to spoil it for anyone but your all in for a REAL treat.:)

Don't forget Oprah After The Show on Oxygen. Won't come on here until 10:30 PM

Debbie 11-04-2003 03:02 PM

I get Oprah at 3 pm PST which would be 6 pm EST. I get Oxygen/the after Oprah show at 7 & 7:30 PST or 4 & 4:30 EST.
But for me it would not spoil it to see post about it. But that is just my opinion. I just can't wait!!! If the news butts in with something I'm going to scream!!!!! (I told my daughter that I would not be home from 3 - 8 pm - no phone calls);)

Ellie 11-04-2003 03:14 PM

The anticipation is killing me!!!:JP

My stupid VCR isn't working, so I'm hoping my stepdad won't forget to tape it at home! I wish I got the Oxygen channel.
