Shania Twain’s CD Up! is the hottest thing going right now.

The country music superstar is monopolizing the top of the music charts of both Music World and Billboard Magazine.

“We expected her latest CD to do well because her last CD, Come On Over, sold over 40 million copies world-wide,” said Will Saari, tourism and attractions manager for the City of Timmins. “However, I don’t believe her last CD went up to the top of the charts as fast as this one.”

In Billboard Magazine’s pop charts, Shania sits pretty at No. 1 over Tim McGraw’s album titled Tim McGraw and The Dancehall Doctors, Mariah Carey’s Charmbracelet, Now 11’s various artists and the 8 Mile Soundtrack’s various artists, which take second, third, fourth and fifth place respectively.

Twain also rules Billboard Magazine’s country music chart at No. 1 over Tim McGraw and the Dancehall Doctors, the Dixie Chicks’ Home, Faith Hill’s Cry and Elvis Presley’s No. 1 Hits.

With the release of Music World’s, top 10 CDs based on national sales for the week ending Dec. 14, Shania Twain’s Up! sits at the apex of the chart.

Following her CD in order from second to fifth place in the top five are, the 8 Mile Soundtrack, MuchDance 2003, Avril Lavigne’s Let Go and Rod Stewart’s It Had To Be You.

Music World also released its top 10 country CD sellers and Twain’s Up! CD sat at the top of that chart as well. Following Twain’s CD in order from second to fifth are, the Dixie Chicks’ Home, Faith Hill’s Cry, Tim McGraw’s Tim McGraw and the Dancehall Doctors and Alan Jackson’s Drive.

Saari credits Twain’s managers for some shrewd marketing for its fast-tracked trip to the top of the sales charts.

“Her CD was released with both pop and country versions as a single-priced package,” he said. “It takes a couple of days to track sales, but she hit No. 1 virtually as soon as her CD came out and has been first for the last three weeks that I’m aware of.”
