Final word on Shania's competition:

Michael Jackson Added to CBS 'Sweeps' Lineup

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - As far as CBS is concerned, Ronald Reagan is out, but Michael Jackson (news) is in.

The Viacom Inc.-owned network confirmed on Thursday that it has scheduled a one-hour special chronicling the career of the self-styled king of pop, set to air on Nov. 26, the final night of the ratings "sweep."

Plans for the production remain fuzzy, but the special is expected to consist mostly of archival footage tracing the singer from his Motown days as the young lead singer of the Jackson 5 through his emergence as one of the recording industry's biggest solo stars.

In keeping with his reclusive nature, the Gloved One is not expected to perform live for the special. A spokesman for the entertainer, Stuart Backerman, said the closest Jackson will come to an "in-person" appearance during the show will be a newly produced video for his latest single, "One More Chance."

Written by R&B singer/producer R. Kelly, "One More Chance" is the only new song on Jackson's upcoming greatest-hits collection, "Number Ones," due out on Epic Records Nov. 18.
