Houston, we have a problem

Last weekend, I went to visit my sister in Houston, and we went over to the space center. Here is a picture of me from the flight deck of a Space Shuttle..

I guess the image didn't upload correctly to the board. I'll relink it to my site later.

Well, Shania's song Honey I'm Home has been used as a Shuttle wake up call, and Shania had one of the first concert DVDs on the Space Station.

Hi there Chris...So you have a sister also in Houston just like me there Chris...You look great on that Space Shuttle platform...Like you belong there dude... and yes it would be great to have Shania at your side...Ha Ha!
No voyage is complete without having Shania along and especially her DVD music to keep us company even out in the great expanses of deep space.

Chris...

You know that Dutch gal named Laura Dekker is getting ready to set sail around the world in her 36 foot two masted sail boat and she is just 14 years of age...Pretty amazing what girls in this world are doing...Guess all you have to do is believe in a little bit of magic to make your dreams happen.
Laura recently sailed from the Netherlands to Portugal with her Father in tow but she will be leaving from Portugal for her round the world cruise in search of a new Guiness book of record insertion.
I can just imagine that Laura will have a lot of girls doing the same thing...But it is really dangerous to set out on sail boat cruise on your own and just rely on your automatic electronics to steer your course by while you are sleeping... It is liking trusting your life to a sort of robot of sorts...
I guess you also heard that Laura Dekker had run in with her Dutch legal system as they sought to keep her from sailing around the world for a full year.
She certainly is determined young lady. Sort of takes after Shania in that respect...Ha Ha!

Below is her blog...Makes for good reading but you may have to translate from Dutch to English.

http://www.lauradekker.nl/English/Home.html

Below is also some videos of Laura taking off from the Netherlands to start her voyage to Portugal and eventually on her wold cruise...Also there are some videos there in this link below that shows the inside of her sail boat as well..Very spacious if you ask me...She has all the comforts of home away from home there in her boat...Guess she had better as that will be her home for almost a year as that is about how long it takes to make a round the World Cruise.

Well, this week I visited the Alamo..

It was really interesting, I love history. I also found out Phil Collins is a huge history buff and has a large collection on the Alamo. He has paid for some of the excavations of the area, and he also narrates a 15 minute presentation on the history of the battle.

Chris

Yes you will see a lot of History around Houston and San Antonio as that is where the Texas rebels first met General Santa Anna and his overwhelming army of thousands and many cannon. I believe the rebels in the Alamo barely had 200 men defending and not altogether that many cannon. But they managed to fend off the Mexican army under Santa Anna for almost a week which gave General Sam Houston enough time to gather an army together to defeat General Santa Anna around the Houston area.

It was sad when the Texas General at Goliad who had a much larger force surrendered to General Santa Anna without firing a shot.

The biggest mistake General Santa Anna made was in dividing up his forces, thinking that he would never be attacked by Texas Rebels.

Never been to Texas Chris. The Alamo must be a very interesting place to visit. My best buddy's niece graduated from the Air Force out there and he went to her graduation. While there he took in the Alamo. He thought it was quite interesting. Nice photo.
