Since the outstanding success of COO and the accompanying world tour, Shania and Mutt took time out to start a family. "I said to Mutt if we don't have a baby now, we may never have one. I was gettng tired of being a star, and didn't want to be famous for a while."

Giving birth to their son Eja, now almost two, has inspired her in many ways. " I was not inspired in a literal way, direct way but indirectly. I think differently now. I have more anxieties. "During my pregnancy it was novel to live a domestic life. To be "pregnant and barefoot" was wonderful and I indulged myself in the scenario. But it dawned on me that many women are imprisoned by that same scenario. What was a blessing for me- a holiday- is for other women a ball and chain. Juanita, one of her favorite songs on the album explores how in our most vulnerable times, whether we're searching for strength, courage, or freedom "it's our female power, our Juanita that we need to connnect with". For now, Eja is a handful enough and they have no plans to expand their little brood just yet. "It was a fabulous experience - I don't want to tempt fate. " she laughs. The joy of becoming a mother was mixed with sadness and pain over the loss of her own mother, Sharon- her "driving force" years before...........
