Ok folks. I was at the Chicago concert tonight and I have got to tell you, Shania had an extra energy pill or something because she was on fire !!!! And the crowd was electric. I don't know how many of you have ever been inside the United Center (Where the Chicago Bulls and Blackhawks play) but it is huge. There were not many empty seats that i could notice, even way way up in the nosebleed section.
The crowd was really into this show. When the band started walking down the stairs at the start of the show (before Shania does her appearance after the shadow thing) the crowd was already on it's feet and nobody sat down until the forth song (FAFA) was played, As a matter of fact the crowd seldom sat down for the entire two+ hours. Sat again during WYKM and FTMO but the crowd stood for most of the other numbers including No One Need To Know. I do not know what the attendance capacity is but it will be interesting to see how many people were there tonight. There had to have been double the amount of people that I've seen in the other concerts so far.
Outfits: Started in No.3 Bulls basketball jersey, then to the outfit she wore in Pittsburgh...the hot pink spaghetti strap top with an orange under garment (like in thar great picture that DocBill or Deb took) in Pitt. The encore was done in a no. 26 Steve Sullivan Chicago Blackhawks (Sullivan who originated from the Timmins area) I'll bet most people didn't catch the significance of her wearing Sullivans Jersey. I also thought of her Indian heritage with the big pic of the indian chief on the jersey. It probably meant alot to her to choose the indian (Blackhawks) logo.
Security was extrememly strict with regard to getting access to the stage for autographs and High-5's. The United Center security were really being jerks about it too. There was one big burly guy that would find people who snuck up to the stage to get an autograph, and bodily walk them out of the arena.!!! Whatta jerk. He was only selective on occasion...never pulling women or e and children to kick them out. I couldn't follow why he chose one over the other. During the first half of the show hardly any autographs were given. I could tell Shania didn't mind signing and would have disapproved of walking a person out of the concert simply because they asked for an autograph. I hope somebody can report that to Shania....but thats Chicago for you. And people wonder why events and conventions are gravitating away from Chicago....Geez.
Shania did mention the Oprah show coming up (her and Dolly and Melisa) are on it. Shania did say that she sang "She's Not Just A Pretty Face" during the Oprah show and that we should look for it..
I can understand security priorities but there is a differnce between a clean cut person asking for an autograph and a looney charging the stage. Anyway, Chicago security guys, take a hint and leave us alone.
The guy that was dressed as Elvis in Indianapolis and in other places was there again tonight and Shania recognized him as a faithful follower of hers. Last night in Indy he had all black on...tonight in Chicago he one of those 70's costumes that Elvis wore...all white with sequins.
overall the concert was great. Shania said it was the loudest crowd they've had so far....and you can tell the band feeds off of the public reaction. I'm falling asleep so I need to cut off now. Will try to filll in more later, unless somebody wants to carry on without me and where I left off.

COOL!!!!!!
Seems security must be locally controlled, since in the 3 shows I saw here in NY/NJ allowed different things. Long Island sounded much like the Chicago show, except they didn't escort people out of the arena. That is just stupid. There were a few times at the LI show, that Shania shot the security guys "a look of death" if they didn't allow people close, but they stilll kept people away, so Shania just usually waved when she was on our side of the stage.
I noticed different security at NYC, and they let people up to the stage in small groups.

I'm happy for you Richard!
Personally I would like to separate the fan reports from the
newspapers' articles. Why to spoil it?

It is amazing she keeps that energy level. She must totally crash after a show.

Wow! Yet another concert under your belt, eh Richard? Luck you! Great review, although too bad about the security. Honestly, do they think that if fellow Shania fans saw someone trying to make their way up to the stage to harm Shania that we would even let them through?! I know I would tackle them and then some. LOL Chris--I like your description of the "look of death" by Shania. I remember seeing that at the Today Show when the sound people kept screwing around and weren't fixing her sound problem. LOL Definitely don't want to be on the recieving side of that look!!!! Richard--what concert are you going to next? I'm surprised Shania hasn't recognized you yet!!
A HYPER Shania fan,
Desiree

Security at most venues are either hired out to a local company or the Venue itself hires their own people. I know when Greg works for Polaris, now Germain Amphitheater, they hire their own people. However, back in 98 I believe it was, Polaris actually hired out all their security work to a private company. It's really better if security is actually hired my the venue in my opinion. It's in the best interest of the venue, because they can make sure their employees are treating people with respect to ensure their return to other events being held there. But like I said, this is just my opinion among many others.

She had that same look at the CBS show too, kinda like....
I'm sure if she had "force powers" like in Star Wars, it would been like that scene in Empire Strikes Back, when Darth Vader talks to one of his Captains after he royally screws up...."...apology accepted Captain Needa" Of course the captain is on the floor gasping for air...lol

Notice there are no reviews yet in the Chicago papers..wonder if they are still in shock from the wrath of Shania fans.

Unfortunatelly, I don't think so, maybe they are "poisoning their arrows".
Not just the Sun anti, the music writer of Tribune (George Kot) is a real Shania basher too.

That was a nice review, Richard! It sounded like another great show! You are so lucky to be able to go to all these wonderful concerts! I wish I could, but just being able to get to one, is something I'll cherish for along time!!
I also agree with you about those security people! You would think they would know a decent person from a loony one! Hope to see you in Milwaukee!

Always looking to get together with other devoted Shania fans. I would really like to meet you. Justlike when I met Joni for the first time two nights ago, when you have Shania in common, you become instant friends. I think I read in either these boards or the boards on the OFS that fans were getting together at a place called Game Time right across the street from the Bradley. I'll PM my cell phone no. to you.
