American Idol appearance propels Shania Twain album
http://www.beatweek.com/news/5262-a...ia-twain-album/
Siobhan Magnus may have been the big loser of American Idol’s country week, but while the remaining five contestants won’t know which of them gets to wear this season’s crown until sometime next month, Idol country week did have one clear winner: Shania Twain. Despite the fact that her most recent album release was six years ago (and it was just a greatest hits package at that), the singer’s appearance on Idol as contestant mentor and the renditions of her songs by the six contestants has helped propel Shania’s 2004 compilation all the way to number two on the iTunes country album charts. Additionally her song You’re Still The One, which was performed to widespread acclaim by contestant Lee DeWyze, has risen to number eight on the country singles chart.
Incidentally, the number one spot on the country albums chart is currently occupied by Lady Antebellum, who performed on American Idol last night (their new album was already seeing chart dominance before the performance); the group also holds the number nine spot with its previous album. Former American Idol contestant Carrie Underwood, who performed on Idol Gives Back last week and briefly appeared on the show last night to introduce Sons Of Sylvia, is holding down the number five album spot. Rascal Flatts, who also performed on Idol last night, have the number eleven country album despite the fact that it was released more than a year ago.
Next week’s American Idol contestant mentor is slated to be Harry Connick Jr. for Frank Sinatra week; it remains to be seen what effect his appearance on the show might have on his 2009 album Your Songs – or for that matter, Sinatra’s catalog.

Too bad it wasn't COO getting boosted. The GH has weakened COO sales power.

I guess it never crossed my mind that Shania might get a jump in sales from the AI appearance. That's great!!!

Yes Shania is reaping some unexpected time for her music there and it is definately making the rounds, I can see that here even myself. I am glad to see that this has helped Shania. I hope it will also motivate Shania to put out another album as well. I just know her fans would love to see her make at least one final album.
