AOL(R) to Launch New Hilary Duff SuperBuddy(TM) Icon

Hot on the heels of her recently released #1 album Metamorphosis, teen sensation Hilary Duff will bring her infectious blend of pop/rock to AOL(R) for Broadband with an intimate performance live from Los Angeles' famed Roxy Theater. America Online, the world's leading Interactive services company, today announced this special live edition of AOL(R) Music's popular BroadBAND Rocks! weekly concert series starring the versatile singer/actress. The ticketed event, which sold out in seven minutes, will be streamed live, exclusively on AOL for Broadband at 8:00 PM PT on Saturday, November 22 at AOL Keyword: Broadband Rocks. AOL for Broadband members will also be able to watch the full show on demand for seven days immediately following the live broadcast.

AOL members can also stay tuned for the launch of the new Hilary Duff SuperBuddy(TM) Icon, coming soon. Nov. 27 - Linkin Park: Live in Texas
Linkin Park's hugely successful concert set from this year's
Summer Sanitarium Tour helped make the tour the most successful of the
season. Now, AOL members can witness the electrifying performances
captured live at Houston's Reliant Stadium and Irving's Texas Stadium.
The set is available on CD/DVD on November 18.

Dec. 4 - Coldplay: Live From Sydney's Horton Pavillion
The Sydney, Australia concert in support of the band's hit album,
A Rush of Blood to the Head, includes live performances of songs

Dec. 11 - Sheryl Crow: Live From Radio City Music Hall
AOL will exclusively broadcast Sheryl Crow's concert recorded live
at New York's Radio City Music Hall.

Dec. 18 - Shania Twain: UP! Live in Chicago
Taped at the country-pop diva's 2003 televised concert in Chicago, UP! Live in Chicago includes 22 performances including six not shown on the NBC Special. The full concert will be available on DVD, in stores November 18.

So, I guess one has to be an AOL member to see it. Doesn't matter - we'll have the DVD which will be much better anyway.

Actually, thinking more about it, has Shania and Mercury given their permission, because this could affect the DVD's sales. Unless Shania is getting a ton of money to let them broadcast it on the internet, what's the advantage. On the other hand, a 1- time broadcast may increase the DVD's sales. Don't know.

It will be a big sales boost and non-copyable for sure.

I agree that streaming video is bad presentation. If I was a non-Shania fan seeing a crappy streaming video of the the concert - would it motivate me to buy the DVD - hmm. There can be a downside for Shania & Co. here.
