3,000 Attend Morning Shania Twain Concert
Posted: 11/5/2004 2:48:20 PM
Things got back to normal Friday afternoon in downtown Nashville following a free morning concert by Shania Twain.
Broadway is back open after this morning's free Shania Twain concert.
More than 3,000 people filled the area surrounding the intersection of Fifth Avenue and Broadway to hear Twain sing.
The show only lasted 20 minutes but the stage took hours to tear down. Streets in the downtown area were closed for nearly 24 hours.
Fans at the show said the inconvenience was worth it.
The concert was paid for by “Good Morning America.”
“It does cost the city money for the man power that this put in, but its very small,” said Lee Alexander, the operations producer for “Good Morning America.”
Merchants said they were thrilled with the turn-out. They said they waited on customers from across the nation who made the trip to Nashville to see Twain in concert.

I see this has become mud sligging again. There still isn't proof of either side. Only our opinions. And why does it matter so much if she did or didn't ? This is getting to be like politics and religion..Shania is neither so again just say what your opinion is and move on and don't "nana booboo I'm right, your wrong" Geesh we all deserve better than to have to read this stuff. You either think she did or you think she didn't. The sun will still come up tomorrow either way.......I still don't know why it is so important, she's not a fraud by any means either way.
Boys, play nice.

Crowd small but rowdy for Shania Twain GMA concert
By BRAD SCHMITT and NICOLE KEIPER
Staff Writers
Shania Twain rocked a smaller-than-expected crowd this morning as part of a country music extravaganza on ABC's Good Morning America.
Officials at Metro and ABC local affiliate WKRN-Channel 2 were expecting a crowd in the thousands, but Metro police officers varied wildly on estimates, between 500 and 3,500. A Tennessean estimate puts the number between 1,000 and 1,500.
Dustin Moss of Murfreesboro arrived at the Lower Broadway site at 5 a.m. ''I was surprised there wasn't a lot of people here. I thought we'd be way in the back. I was expecting a traffic jam, I guess a lot of people didn't take off work.''
Still, it was a rowdy crowd that started gathering midnight Thursday and grew to its maximum size by 6 a.m. today.
Twain sang Man, I Feel Like a Woman, Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under? and her current radio single, Party for Two, a duet with labelmate Billy Currington, for this morning's broadcast. She stayed afterward to record another song, Forever and For Always, for Saturday's GMA weekend broadcast.

Look at that, another case of journalist who don't know how to write. So now we have conflicting numbers.

Wonder what they mean by "rowdy crowd"?? They all seemed to behave except the ones pawing at Shania.

The shopkeepers seemed to love the business Shania brought to the area. I sure wish this was filmed up here in NY.

I'm with you on that one!
I think the best part of the show, was when they cut to her interview, and she was crying after hearing about all her charity work and how many kids don't go hungry because of her efforts. It was very touching.

WOW! Shania looked and sounded great! It always gets exciting around the time she starts promotion. Can't wait to see all the shows coming up. By the way, loved the interview with her. She seems to be opening herself up a little more. I like that!
