I too borrowed COO from a friend initially, and I have to admit that it took some time growing on me actually - I loved a few of the songs early on (You're Still The One in particular, and Don't Be Stupid), but I first knew Shania's music from TWIM. I had never bought TWIM at that time but I'd heard the album a zillion times before as another friend had it and we always enjoyed listening to it. Maybe I expected the same sound, so it took some time adjusting, but after a few listens through the album I began to get into it quickly!
Soon after I bought it myself (and TWIM
), and I still listen to them all the time.
I find I go through phases with the album where my favourite songs are often changing. The ones I first loved are actually not my top favourites from the album anymore, so just goes to show how things can change!
When I compare the album to Up and TWIM, I find that if I single out songs from all of the albums, most of my top favourites are from Up and TWIM, but what made COO so great was the way the songs were when they were all put together in one album. It had a great flow to it, and just a certain energy to the theme that really gets you into the music, and I think that is why it was so successful.
