GAC Special Cancelled

Continuing its sabotoge of Shania's "Greatest Hits" album, her scheduled half-hour "Shania Twain Greatest Hits Special" that was to premiere on GAC Dec 3 has been cancelled -- by her own label. No special. Shania is GAC Artist of the Month for December with no new special or any longform programming...

This label is a failure, a 10 year old can understand more in PR stuff.

Did you expect anything less from mercury, i mean as far as they are concerned shania is taking time off so they can forget about her for a bit, until just before the release of her next album then they'll be falling over themselves trying to promote her as best they can ( well to mercury's standards anyway) just so sad to see that their biggest selling artist is left to do everything for herself no wonder she's so tired

Funny how there was a press release of sorts for Terri Clark's greatest hits going gold. Something a Terri album has not done since 1998. A Double Diamond is no news story to Mercury. We wouldn't want to over shadow a gold album now would we?

Between Luke admitting they totally blew "What Made You Say That" in that they didn't know how to handle the transition from video hit to a single hint, then admitting he had to arm twist to get radio to play "Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under?" because Mercury didn't know what to do with the record, same with Come On Over. Then Shania in an interview said Up! left them scratching their heads at Mercury, now this. The writing is on the wall.

hmm...

I've sometimes wondered what would happen if Shania was on a label that promoted her according to her status...

...things would be different, and not necessarily all positive...

Of course, the one channel I actually have to watch a Shania special, (and I was really looking forward to this special) gets cancelled. Thanks a lot Mercury!

I know! You're right Chris. Eja would do such a better job than Mercury does!

"It's about as bad as it could be, seems Mercury is buggin' me...."

What an incompetant pack of clowns they've got running that label......er I take that back I respect clowns more than that......even though I don't have GAC, I can't believe...well actually I can this is Nashville that Mercury is doing nothing for Shania. Talk about being the black sheep of the family.....or rather the family that never accepted her. This is really irritating, I hope Shania and Mutt wake up and file action like the DC did against Sony, though for different reasons or find someway to get out of her current contract. She does not deserve this kind of blatantly obvious mistreatment!

Like?

The only thing I can think of that keeps Shania at Mercury is that she basically has free reign over her own albums. She does what she wants, she would probably lose some of that at another label. Plus at another label she would have to really crank out the CDs. So there are Pros and Cons to staying at Mercury. Maybe in Shania's mind the Pros out weigh the Cons.

If this special was going to be like the Up! one on Gac two years ago. That was taken from the Mercury Up! video presskit. Maybe Shania didn't do one for the GH cd?? That could be another possiblity.

I don't see how there could be any connection between the UP! press-kit and this special.

I can imagine, if GAC planned a special, and talked about it, they new they have material for that.
Shania's promo for the GH was really out enough time now for that.

NAMd btw, where is the Larry King interview?

Because the GAC special was just taken from a 30 odd minute show on the presskit. I am assuming the GH special would have been done the same way, right off the presskit. If there was not video presskit there is no special. GAC didn't put the Up! one together, Mercury did.

Yeah... this is very strange to cancel this...
No wonder I couldn't find the air time for this yesterday when I was looking ...

I wonder if they never made that Larry King... if there was schedule conflict, as Shania had to be in Holland for the Dominos so soon after CMAs?
