TWIM album

Luke Lewis referred to this album as their 'honeymoon record' since they wrote it, while falling in love. Mutt was so over budget with TWIM but still went ahead and wrote them (Mercury Records) a cheque.

I think the only track, which wasn't co-written with Mutt on this album was
'Leaving Is The Only Way Out'. How would you rate this song overall?

Actually no. Mutt put up a lot of the money himself he wasn't over budget. Go read "The Great Nashville Bank Robbery" in the Eggar book.

God Bless The Child wasn't? I don't have the album jacket with me right now. The only track that Mutt did himself was "You Win My Love"

They must have got the information wrong on this documentary I watched, which said that Mutt was over budget. Clearly, he wasn't, as Chris said.
I haven't seen the Eggar book, but I bet it's an interesting read.

The Nashville media was trying to spin how much the album cost as something bad. Mutt wanted TWIM to be produced as if it were a rock album, not on a country album budget. Mutt wasn't going to cheap out like Nashville does. Shania and Mutt wanted the album to be able to compete with pop albums which have a higher budget than a typical country record.

Plus as the chapter name implies...they robbed the bank...lol Mercury didn't believe in Shania as much as Mutt did, so the label loses out on a lot of money and control...lol

I have come to really enjoy this album over the past few years. I am somewhat ashamed to admit that I didn't play it much in the beginning. It was COO 4 times out of 5. But then I got into playing it more often. I think I can safely say now that it is almost as important if not as important as COO or any of her other CDs to me.

By the way, I played the old "Wolf" CD yesterday in my van for a change. In fact, I ran it twice. Haven't played it for some time now. My thoughts were that even though only one of the songs had anything to do with her writing, Shania sang them all really nice with a lot of soul. I listened very intently to it as I haven't for a long time. It occurred to me that probably for her, it was like me going clothes shopping with Terry. What I mean is that since it was not music that Shania had written, it must have been a little hard for her to sing those songs. She is a professional though through and through and so she sings them like she owned them anyway. She has a beautiful younger voice on this CD obviously, but if you listen closely, you hear a real country singer. So take that old George Jones. Shania didn't ruin country music like you said, she can do it with the best of em' anytime she wants!

It was when Luke Lewis suggested that Shania go to Egypt to shoot the video for TWIM, which really sparked international travel for her. You could say she's a total gypsy now, there's not many places she hasn't visited for business or pleasure.

and her music has made it to space. "Shania Live" was one of the first DVDs on Space Station Alpha, and they have used her songs as wake up calls for the astronauts on the Shuttle.

Yes, I read that somewhere. I think Honey I'm Home was one of those songs.
