Cool yes I could listen in but the show will be over by now. 3C is the UK's only C & W format station broadcasting from Glasgow it is very popular with the Scots and Irish who love Country and Western music.

The English do NOT!

Tom

There you go generalizing...Be carefull I make the same mistake all the time...Not all the English are that way...There are always the exceptional few who absolutely love country music because of its uniqueness mostly I would think...But I am certainly glad the Scottish and Irish love Country...But then so do the Aussies and the peoples in New Zealand share that view amazingly enough...I think the people of Argentina are very much oriented that way also, particularly out in the country...

How else do you make a point. Do you want me to say C&W is not as popular in England... That wouold be true but that would not get across just how UNPOPULAR it is across the border with less than 5% of the English expressing any interest in Country and Western programming AT ALL***.

*** Source phone poll survey of 100 English towns and cities by the Community Radio Assc. of Great Britain in July 2003. I was an active member until November of last year.

Than look at the same poll for Scotland:

73% and Northern Ireland 82% and I think you have to agree that my previous statement is indeed not out of context. I know my Radio, I should I have been in the Music and Entertainment industry since 1967 and that is longer than many members here have been alive on this planet.

And I am afraid that in Europe the English figure is rather a little on the high side.

It is for this reason Shania does an International version of all her songs and leaves out the country Twang outside North America, though on Party for Two I can not tell any difference between the versions they both sound good to me. I prefer the International version of "That Don't impress me much" I find the Country and Western version as featured in Video in the DVD Platinum Collection has a weird guitar rift on the Intro that just does not sit right with me compared to the pure Pop recording.

Tom

Thanks for posting your reply...Now those figures put everything in perspective because I did not know the exact figures as to how many were country music oriented...75 % for the Scots and 82 % for the Irish are fairly awesome figures...That does impress me much Tom...But the low figure from the English did not suprise me at all...What did suprise me was the number of people who attended her concerts in England...Yes you should have been a DJ Tom...But you are like me Tom...You love to tinker eh! Initialy I did not start out Country myself until I joined the US Navy...Then I practically had no choice but to listen to Country as that was what everybody was listening to at the time...That is the reason I love Pop and Country...I started out on Pop music Tom and I am from Texas...
