If he thinks not listening to a cd and then writing about it is a review, then I'll take the cakewalk journalism course he somehow got through please.

Shania bashers... their articles are all too often like a car wreck on paper aren't they? LOL

Shania Twain: Greatest Hits

21.11.2004
Reviewed by RUSSELL BAILLIE

Herald rating (* *)

The collected works of the Canadian country pop star and mistress of the exclamation mark title - I'm Gonna Getcha Good!, Up! Ka-Ching!, Man! I Feel Like A Woman!, Don't!, I'm Outta Here! - compiles those and her less alarmingly punctuated numbers. All from a decade or so of proudly plastic hits, which seem musically grounded in the 80s in which her producer-hubby Mutt Lange made his name. Apparently there's enough to make for 21 tracks, but of them there's a fair swag of Twain's twangier early stuff in the second half. It seems country music's loss was the Wanaka economy's gain.

New tracks: Don't!, Party for Two (with Mark McGrath).

Key tracks: You're Still the One, Man! I Feel Like a Woman!

Looks to me like hes the one who is exclamation happy. He threw in a couple that Shania did not.

And why did this become an issue anyway?

Oh yeah... cause bashing Shania requires stepping away from fact and reality.

HAHA yeah noticed the extra exclamations.....i guess they have to write something bad about the album and couldn't find anything but the exclamation marks

Okay, so he thinks his opinion really matters??...That Don't Impress Me Much.... I eally hate these undeserved reviews. The part about being stuck in the 80s...okay now if he listened to the Up! red disk, I could understand how he might say that....though don't get me wrong I LOVE UP! red, I'm just saying that disc does seem to have an 80s pop tinge to it, which is not a bad thing....but this guy is just cruel sheesh!

"Greatest Hits" (Mercury Records), Shania Twain. The premier collection from Twain has no major omissions. Favorites include "(If You're Not In It for Love) I'm Outta Here!," "Forever and Always," "Man! I Feel Like a Woman!" and "Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under?" Exclamation points appear regularly in Twain's song titles, a pattern that applies to five songs on "Greatest Hits." Her fondness for this punctuation might symbolize the energy in the music, and sass of the message. This album, undeniably, is the best of Twain and a must-have for any of her fans. Four and 1/2 stars

another critic's wrong

A few days ago, I read that one critic wrote something about Shania's vocals in Party For Two.
He wrote that she recorded the song only with Billy because her vocals in the pop version were the same of the country ones.
Well, he's definetely wrong (but it's not a surprise... )...
listening to both version of this song, I could notice two differences:
the first one is at the beginning. Her "uh-uh" after Billy says "I don't think I can come" are different than pop version with Mark;

the other one is during the second chorus. With Billy she only says "Ain't inviting nobody", while with Mark she says "I ain't inviting nobody"

These are small but significant differences, I think.
So, this is for you critics out there: before writing something wrong about Shania, listen REALLY to her songs. Only once is not enough, you can find something new even after TEN times you listen to them!!
