Shania's sweater on song Forever and For Always

I am crazy about Shania Twain. She looks like an angel and sings like one. Can someone find me instructions how to knit the sweater she wears in Forever and For Always video clip? I am a Canadian living abroad and love the song's words and how she looks:relaxed by the beach. I would like to wear a similar sweater on the beach this summer.

Shania has not said how exactly she stictched it together, only that she made it from 3 scarves she found in New Zealand. I would assume the top is made from one, and the sleeves from the other two.

Thankyou Chris for the quick reply. Are you really Mr. Spock? I used to love the old Star Trek episodes too...funny seeing you with Shania dressed as Spock. I will try looking for scarves that match her sweater or make up my own pattern.

I am a big Star Trek fan as well. Here are some video captures from the video that might help you figure out how Shania made it.....

Welcome to the messageboard Angela! What do you think of Shania's latest single " Party for Two"? Have you ever been to Timmins, Ontario to visit the Shania Twain Centre?

I have never been to Timmins, Ontario. I do love the new song Party for Two. Shania is a free-spirited singer. All her songs are fun. If I make her sweater, it will be a tad bit longer, not to insult the traditional beachniks.

Shania's sweater

Angela,

Shania is indeed wearing three scarves. One is her skirt, one is the sash around her middle and the last is her top. I just looked at the pictures on this thread and finally see how the top was made. I have been wondering also. The scarf that is used is unusually long.

To make the top it's length was folded in half, just as a middle reference point. Then the top edge was folded over 2-3 inches. The middle reference point was placed at the mid point of Shania's chest. She probably held it there while the next step was performed. The long tails were taken around to the back and stitched at the top to fit snugly in the middle of her back. What is now left of tails of the scarf becomes the sleeves. They are wrapped around her arms so that the very end edge of the scarf can be sewn to the hanging part of the scarf. It is a very clever arrangement. Hope this is helpful.

Actually the top is made from multiple scarves according to what she said.

As I have heard her say in interviews "the outfit is made from three scarves". Being someone who has sewed all my life, it is obvious to me that the top is one continuous piece of knit material that has been manipulated to look like it has many parts. The skirt is a large, probably square, gossamer piece. The belt around her middle is the third piece. I think that she just mis-stated herself and meant to say that it took three scarves to make the whole outfit. The top is definately only one piece.

Looks like atleast three to me, one around her body, and the sleaves are the other two. Look how the sleaves attach in the back.

Did you read my description in my initial post? Read it carefully and look very closely at the picture showing her back. Look how the scarf goes from where it is attached at the middle of her back then drapes down, then back up to form the sleeves. The last 6 to 8 inches of the scarf on each side wrap around her arms and then is sewn back on itself.

Shania needs to sell the sweaters.

I think it has to be the #1 question I get asked from my website.

First of all, it is not a sweater! It is a very long wool scarf. the answer to how it was fashioned into a beautiful top for the video is in my initial post. I tried to make the description as to how it was made as clear as possible. Maybe I was not clear enough
