SHANIA's DOWN-TIME

I thought it would be interesting to compare the amount of down-time between Shania's singles from album to album on the charts...this is what I came up with:

FROM 'SHANIA TWAIN' TO 'THE WOMAN IN ME'
"Dance With The One" Off: September 11, 1993
"Whose Bed" On: January 28, 1995
Total Down-Time: 72 Weeks

FROM 'THE WOMAN IN ME' TO 'COME ON OVER'
"God Bless the Child" Off: April 26, 1997
"Love Gets Me" On: October 04, 1997
Total Down-Time: 23 Weeks

FROM 'COME ON OVER' TO 'UP!
"I'm Holdin' On To Love" Off: November 25, 2000
"I'm Gonna Getcha Good" On: October 19, 2002
Total Down-Time: 99 Weeks

FROM 'UP!' TO 'GREATEST HITS'
"Forever and For Always" Off: October 23, 2004
"Party For Two" On: September 18, 2004
Total Down-Time: NONE (-5 Weeks)

FROM 'GREATEST HITS' TO 'TBA'
"I Ain't No Quitter" Off: July 09, 2005
"TBA" On: TBA
Total Down-Time: 186 weeks [and counting]

For Shania's first five albums: the Avg. Down-Time inbetween the last Shania single from an album and the first Shania single from the follow-up album is:

75 Weeks!

Okay.... so where is the rest of your analysis?? The projection to the next album???

I think the time between COO and Up! would throw off any projection.

lol...yeah...but I would predict about 30-40 more weeks of down-time. IANQ fell off the charts July 09, 2005. I would guess a late spring-early summer release of debut single to next album, however, we'll have to wait and see if Shania does a lot of promo for "Shoes" that could hold it back or if "Shoes" becomes the first single off the album or is just a song that she puts on the album, then that could push the date forward. But right now i'd say about 30-40 weeks.

Don't might get a second life once the movie comes out. I would say her next album comes out Nov. 06.

Who knows.... the only thing we know for certain about Shania's career in the coming months is that it is uncertain!

I'll bet there are many singers who would love to have that kind of a batting average.

The down time between Come On Over and Up could actually be a little longer. If I remember correctly, Shania and her songs were already "taking a break" when radio started playing "Holding On To Love."

You're right, because it was about 1 month or two after RTC fell off the charts before IOHTL started getting radio airplay. But the COO was just so good that radio couldn't resist it.

Up!'s production was announced at the 2000 CMA awards, and Shania said they were going to take their time putting the album together, because she wanted to spend time with Mutt as a couple. Well we know what side project that led to.
