Reminds me of my son mowing the lawn years ago when he was a teen. He was so smug that he could do it in 1 1/2 hours, but it took ole' dad 2 hours. However, when you looked at the lawn after he did it, there was a lot of misses and clumps, but not after ole' dad did it. I might add that ole' mom misses a lot too when she does it. :floor
Yes, doing things fast and furious isn't always good.

Fast AND furious??? 5 years are fast and furious according to you? 2008 would mean a gap wider than the Come on over-UP one. Yeah, she toured (with COO too) and she released a GH. Anyway, it's been 5 years since the release of an all-new material album. I think this MUST be the year.
And I'm not only talkin' about my (our) impatience for it, I'm also talkin' about losing fans.
Maybe I'm wrong (and I do hope so!) but most people don't wait too long things...they forget about them and go on with their lives. Yeah, you can tell those aren't true fans, but remember what's happenin' to Celine Dion.
Her last concert in France or in Canada was 8-9 years ago and people are startin' to forget her. Her albums aren't sellin' well at all and so on (her previous french albums, released in 1996 and in 1998 sold 5 million copies each JUST in france, her french GH, relased in 2005, barely sold 800,000 copies AROUND THE WORLD!!)
It would be a very poor reward for Shania if after all these years to complete an album people won't but it.

As much as I would like to hear a new albun yesterday, and it surely cost Shania fans, we only can wait or leave. No one is forces us being a fan or not.
I am sure Shania knows how the game is played, and she knows she will loosing fans, but their privacy, and I guess above all Eja's childhood is more important to her (them).
Maybe even her did not planned such a long break, but then life took its turn.
We don't know what happened to them during these years, amongs them things which could effect the progress on the album. Or it can be a writer block, time for healing her voice, a combination of many things.
But I think, the succes of the next album will depend on the music eventually. If Shania will be able reinvent herself, coming out with a new image, a bit different lyrics and fresh sound, the skye is the limit.

It was clear from the cityline interview that Shania was sort of at the crossroads.

First off, in no way do I think it's fast and furious. I was just alluding to Spocks hare and tortoise comment. I also have to agree with Jude. It ain't gonna happen until Shania makes it happen! If it's 2008 or 2009, or 2025, so be it. Let's face it, she sure as heck doesn't need the momey. Maybe she is more interested in moving on and not so much into music as she once was. I hope not, but it seems like if she was hot to get the music out, it would be here by now. Like you say Celine has dropped off, but then Celine is selling out Vegas continously. She has probably reached where she wants to be too and is not so driven. When you think about it, Shania has accomplished what most artists dream about, so maybe she isn't so keen on things or as driven as she once was. I agree it sure isn't doing her image with fans any good. I think most of us here are willing to wait, even if we are old and gray before it happens, but I also agree the longer she goes without having a new album, the better chance she has of losing many who listen to her.

I think Shania's main drive right now is giving to Eja the childhood she (and maybe Mutt neither) had. And I think any time when she will feel her drive to release new music will come across with his needs, her career will stay in second place. Knowing what she went through in her early years, no one can blame her,we would do the same.
But I think eventually they will find the right rhythm for them, and will be able to menage both aspects of their life parallelly. Also, we must not forget, she's not alone, Mutt may has his preferences and plans too.
I am still hoping for a this year release, but of course I will take it as it comes.

Atleast this time she can plan out what she wants to do.

Ok, maybe I overreacted, but I was angry at the news. I mean, first all those rumors last year about a new CD comin' out, with song titles and everything, then the news about no cd in 2006 and the hope to have one this year. Now this. I mean, it's not an official news so we can still hope. But the chances are getting fewer day by day

The rumors with the song titles were just a sick joke of some who had too much time in their hands.

Shania would never come up with such hideous titles, although she likes her music to reflect her sense of humour. With Mutt's track record of successes, he would get her to change something, if it didn't sound right. He knows the ingredients for a hit single.

Shania Twain and Family High on Another Mountain
Shania Twain, hubby and producer Mutt Lange and their son Eja have been residing high on a hill in the Alps overlooking a lake in dreamy Switzerland where mountains touch the skies and fairy tales are written. The couple purchased 24,000-plus acres high on another hill in New Zealand where they are having a $30-million estate built. Locals say when Shania and Mutt shop at local markets for fruit and vegetables, she wears a baseball cap and is very nice. However, it's reported the couple does flit in and out of the country on their private jet.

So what is wrong with having a private jet??? She isn't the only country artist with a jet. Dolly and Reba have one too.

...As an album “The Best Damn Thing” is too relentless to be heard end to end. Its songs are expected to bring occasional jolts to a playlist. The single “Girlfriend,” is the best, using cleverly manipulated echoes and attacks to sound as if Ms. Lavigne were charging in from all directions, and it makes most of the other songs sound redundant, though still perky. She hedges her bets with a few power ballads; her next career move will apparently be along the lines of Shania Twain. But for now she’s trying to blast her way back onto a few million high schoolers’ iPods...
