Reba McEntire is hosting the show and as we all know Shania likes to catch up with other Country artists so that might be reason enough to attend. She might not be necessarily presenting, but it would be great to see her present.
I'm going to send an email to the ACM official site, hopefully they will be able to confirm something. Maybe Shania was scheduled to appear (before that issue of People magazine went to print) but something urgent has cropped up which means she's had to cancel.

Why to build up already reasons why Shania canceled her attendance, when it not even sure she was supposed to?

If Shania was going to be there, I would think whatever station has the award show broadcast would be promoting the appearance pretty heavily.

performers and presenters, press releases, etc., :didn't see anything on Shania.  Although I may have seen her kissing an award from years ago on the home page.

I just saw this news posted over at the Shania Forums, that's fantastic Shania will be taking part. It will be interesting to see what she'll be wearing, probably something of Marc Bouwer's but hopefully not as revealing as the pink gown she wore at the Kennedy Honors although she looked beautifully stunning as always.
