Shania Twain,la chanteuse aux millions d’albums vendus, est venue en voisine retrouver, comme chaque année, l’avocat lausannois Stéphane Lagonico, membre du comité exécutif de la Croix-Rouge suisse.

Ce n’est pas tout à fait l’année de tous les records. Mais on s’y attendait. Cela dit, la huitième édition du Bal de la Croix-Rouge suisse, qui réunit les beautiful people de l’arc lémanique et qui était cette année consacré à l’Afrique et plus particulièrement au Swaziland, a réalisé un très beau résultat.
Aux Halles CFF de Morges, 650 personnes – femmes en robe de bal, hommes en smoking – ont été, samedi soir, accueillies par les tam-tam et les danses. Vice-présidente de la Croix-Rouge suisse, la magnifique Sénégalaise Absa Kane est particulièrement fière. «Pour ma première année d’engagement dans cette cause, affirme-t-elle, c’est très émouvant que le thème de la soirée soit consacré à mon continent.»
Pour la bonne cause
Et, tandis que les convives déambulent, un verre de champagne à la main, la brigade des cuisines du Beau-Rivage, dirigée par le chef Dominique Gauthier, s’active dans une des halles, où le palace a reconstitué une cuisine de restaurant gastronomique, avec entrée, deux plats et dessert.
Côté people, assaillie par les photographes, la chanteuse canadienne Shania Twain, résidente de La Tour-de-Peilz, a remporté tous les suffrages. Habillée par les deux créateurs genevois David Arasa et Claudio Morelli, la star participe chaque année à ce bal, «pour la bonne cause».
Bilan financier: plus de 600 000 francs collectés, dont 410 000 francs obtenus grâce aux enchères menées par Simon de Pury. Et, même en robes longues, les femmes ont fini la soirée avec le DJ Double XL, rapport à sa corpulence, qui a célébré les années 60 et 70 de la Motown.

well, what can we do, after a certain age, being tired shows our age more then generally. She's still looking great, and hopefully the happy heart smile will be there soon.

Well, the smile we see here isn't a "happy heart" one for sure....at least, it's different than the ones we are (were) used to..

People always pick up on the age thing, which bugs me. If and when I get to 43 and look as good as what Shania does, I'd certainly have plenty to smile about.

She does look older, but still she looks great for for almost mid-40's. I am sure the past year or so has not been pleasant for her, but maybe now she has dealt with it and moved on. Winning all polls isn't too shabby either!!  Yeah, hope she finds a good "mike" soon and tries it out.
