I know I'd enjoy meeting you again there, and enjoy my first indoor concert. But I got chores to do. And more than a few other things people want me to do also.
Someday.
Have a great time!

Friday Detroit Show Review
Twain treats fans to upbeat show
October 25, 2003
BY BRIAN MCCOLLUM
FREE PRESS POP MUSIC CRITIC
Shania Twain has become one of contemporary music's biggest success stories in spite of herself.
Make that in spite of her voice, to be precise. A capacity crowd of 20,000 packed the Palace Friday night not because Twain can sing; there are plenty of other reasons the Canadian country-pop star has risen to the top of the contemporary music hierarchy.
And they were easy to see at Friday's show, the first in a two-night Detroit stand, starting with Twain's biggest personal strength: her ability to seem simultaneously accessible and larger-than-life, a megastar who makes fans feel they're all best pals.
She's certainly one of the spunkiest acts out on the road. Taking the Palace stage in a Red Wings hockey jersey to the sassy riff of "Man! I Feel Like a Woman," Twain spent a generous 140 minutes conducting what might as well have been a giant pep rally dolled up with Vegas flair. Colorful fireworks punctuated the musical climaxes, and Twain used the breaks between songs to interact casually with the front row, even inviting assorted fans onstage for snapshots.
Her nine-member backing band proved competent throughout the evening.
Brisk tunes like "Up!" and "C'est La Vie" sounded as polished onstage as husband Mutt Lange's productions sound on record. They were textured enough to mask the weaknesses in Twain's vocals -- problems with pitch and a flaccid delivery.
But 50 million record buyers have to be right about something, and here's the part they intuitively get: Shania's got the songs. Friday night was a generous display of the Twain team's knack for sugary pop confections, songs loaded with hooks and choruses as big as Ontario. And that's enough to keep her a step ahead of most contenders in the pop race.

With some paragraphs moved around, it is the same review from other cities...

Cheap Shot
I thought this was a good review, however this part was a cheap shot:
"They were textured enough to mask the weaknesses in Twain's vocals -- problems with pitch and a flaccid delivery".
I was there! THe crowd loved her and her voice.

It's a strong statement. I don't believe it has been observed so astutely by commercial reviewers of the current tour until now. I wonder if he's been lurking on our mb for background material and perspective. He took a topic we've been exploring in detail, (World Tour forum - Meet and Greet thread; also General Forum, Bashing Shania thread) and seems to have summarized his conclusion about it.

Shania Was Awsome!
This was the best concert I have ever attended, by any artist. I had seats on the floor about 20 rows from the stage. Shania made her entrance just to our left, and her final exit to our immediate left. When she sang "The Woman in Me" in the seats she was directly behind us about 10 rows.
I had also attended the Shania concert in Grand Rapids on 10/4. That was a smaller venue and the crowd was not as rowdy as in Detroit (Palace of Auburn Hills). The crowd in Detroit was REALLY into Shania. There was a couple of teenage girls who were having a birthday that Shania allowed on stage for a picture with her. Also, a middle-aged gentlemen was chosen from those who purchased tickets to support "Kids Cafe" to meet Shania on stage.
After the concert the local Country radio station (WYCD 99.5) was taking calls from fans leaving the concert. Everyone I heard agreed the concert was awsome! They were also playing Shania songs about the rate of every other one.
One thing, the concert was very LOUD! My ears were ringing for several hours afterward. Perhaps, it was just that way for those of us on the floor, but I really didn't mind.
It was a great experience that I will always remember.

Thanks for the review detfan. Now I know what happened both in Det and G.R. FV asked me up in Timmins last summer if I'd attend an ST concert in my area. I didn't expect to unless ST returned next door in E. Lansing, where she had played in earlier tours. I'm behind on my duties and shouldn't be taking time off. But with all your great reviews, I know I sure would like to have attended the shows here in Mich.
