Mcelebs interview - UK mag

Thanks to Kirsty in forums i had to rush out and get the sunday mirror as a mag inside has an interview with shania... and she is on the front page

The Interview:

First things first, lets clear up a rumour. Is it true you're in a no-sex marriage to producer Robert 'Mutt' Lange?

Shania Twain: I heard about that rumour, but no, that sint true at all.

Thats a relief. Have there been other fanciful stories about you?

Shania Twain: As well as the no-sex marriage thing, its been written that i had a terminal illness. I dont know why anyone would make up something like that. But the gossip columns aren't too hard on me, probably because i live a very straight like. I don't do controversial things and i don't have
a controversial past, so theres nothing for them to play on.I think im a bit boring.

Yours fans would probably disagree, at least when you're on stage. Do they ever wave rude banners at you?
Shania Twain: Ive never had any rude ones, just ones saying how much they enjoy my music. Im impressed by the work some people put into their signs. Some of them are so intricate, tehy must spend hours on them. The thing i love most, though, is when people in the audience come in replica costumes from ny videos. They put so mush effirt into it.

Now you have tons of money, whats your biggest indulgence?

Shania Twain: Shoes, but im not a hoarder. Im always buying new shoes, but if im not getting enough wear out of them, i'll give them away. I might speand as much as $1,500 (£890) on a really great pair, but i'm not a bi spender and im happy to shop at H&M, sure. I like to got o Milan once in a while and see whats new, but its more for entertainment. I dont max out my credit card and go home with $50,000 worth of designer gear.

Have you ever stolen anything?
Shania Twain: Only from McDonalds. I worked there as a kid and i'd fill my pockets with condiments, like maple syrup and ketchup. It was the cheapest way to get them. Customers get them for free, of course, but i guess i'd still have been fired if i'd been caught.

How does it feel being lusted after by most of the world's male population?
Shania Twain: I dont take all that seriously. The real me is hardly sexy - thats just a role i take on invideos and photo shoots. It's like playing dress-up.

Do you feel sexy when you look in the mirror?
Shania Twain: No way. I think my body is in proportion, but i wish i had better legs. They're not very shapely.

Do you have any celeb crushes?
Shania Twain: Ashton Kutcher. He's so beautiful. I've never met him, but if i did i would blush. Its the same with Brad Pitt. I'd be way too bashful.

Does Robert mind you lusting after Ashton and Brad?
Shania Twain: No. He has women he fancies.

Who would you most like to be stuck in a lift with?
Shania Twain: Definately not Ashton Kutcher or Brad Pitt. I wouldnt want to be stuck with someone i fancied because i'd be intimidated and shy and would blush a lot. I'd choose someone like Hitler. I'd sure like to pick his brains. What was that guy thinking?

When was the last time you cried?
Shania Twain: A couple of years ago. When i was in hospital after giving birth to my son. Eja D'Angelo. I didn't cry when he was born, but afterwards i must have had the 'baby blues'. For a few days i would just cry for no reason. The nurses were like, 'Don't worry, ths happens to everyone' but it didn't make me feel better. After a day or two, though, i got over it.

Eja is two now. What kind of a mother are you?
Shania Twain: I'm dotting, but thats probably normal with your firts child. I'm always worried hes gonna fall or go too fast on his bike. I think im more stressed about that than i should be.

There's a Shania Twain museum in your home town of Timmins, in Canada. Have you ever been?
Shania Twain: I haven't, but i donate a lot of stuff to the place. I always send my outfits from videos and my awards. The idea of a Shania Twain museum is a little strange, actually. When i first heard about it, i thought, 'Im not dead yet.' It was kind of creepy.

When did you start singing?
Shania Twain: I've been singing forever, i think, but i was six when i started performing in front of my family and at school. By the time i was eight, i was singing in bars. My parents thought it was the best way for me to get noticed, plus it ended up being like my performing arts school - its where i learned to be an entertainer.

Didnt you secretly resent your parents for making you work at such a young age?
Shania Twain: Oh yeah. The bars were rough and an unsuitable environment for a young child. They were smoky, everyone was half-drunk and fights would often break out. A lot of the time i was half-asleep because i'd work late nights but still have to get up for school the next morning.

After your parents' tragic death in a car accident when you were 22, you were responsible for raising your brothers and sisters. That must have been tough.
Shania Twain: It was, bit i didnt have a choice. It also helped me deal with my grief. Having all that responsibility helped me get through it. My brothers were 13 and 14, and my sister had just turned 18, but had still been living with my parents and wasn't ready to go off into the world, so it was up to me to get a job. Fortunately i found a job in a cabaret show that paid well.

You're a teetotal now. Why did you give up drinking?
Shania Twain: To be honest i was never much of a drinker, although as a teenager i had my pukey mornings, and when my parents died i went through a few months in kind of a party mode where i would go out to clubs every weekend.

Didn't that make you depressed?
Shanai Twain: No, it was good therapy for me. I loved going out dancing, I'm not what you'd call a good dancer, but i loved being in a crowd and just letting go. I did a lot of that when my parents died and it was usually with a few drinks, but i just don't need it now.

How do you relax nowadays?
Shania Twain: I like to go out and do normal things. I do get recognised, but you just have to move quickly before they get up the nerve to approach you. I keep a low profile and dress down. and if you do that, you dont draw attention to yourself.

Sania's single When You Kiss Me is out on 17 November.

Thanks chicker for posting this article. There are some questions asked to Shania that I have never seen her asked before. Very interesting. Bye the way what store is H & M - where she is "happy to shop at"?

I wish that when she talked about the Shania Twain Centre in Timmins she would have ended her comments with something more possitive about it. But I think that she needs to actually see it to really appreciate it.

She has been asked before if she feel sexy when she sees herself in a mirror and has always answered "no". She must need to get some new mirrors or something like maybe glasses because dressed down or UP! the woman is drop dead georgous and sexy!! JMO

We have H&M in our malls here on Long Island. Some of the outfits they have had in the windows, I have seen parts of them on Shania. Like the zipper pants she wears in concert.

Some nice new information in this article

We know Shania was not that comfortable with having a museum built.

Shania going out partying. She alludes to it in BTM.

This isn't a tabloid type mag is it? Some of the things in the article just don't sound right to me.

I think the stuff about Eja rings true, with other interviews. The stuff after her parents death, sounds iffy, atleast in comparison to the Eggar book.

Shania did mention in BTM, that she did care about things after her parents death, and that she just did stuff.

I've read before that she had the crying moments in the days after Eja's birth. And that is common among new moms.

Chris, I didn't realize that Finding Nemo would be your type of movie. You always seem to suprise me!
