What were the year's biggest stories about country music and its stars? CMT looks at the year in review in CMT NOISEMAKERS 2003 - THE BIG STORIES. The special will cover the news that rocked the entire music world, the loss of iconic music legends Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash. The CMT News retrospective also takes a look at some of the year’s heated controversies, including Rascal Flatts’ racy video "I Melt," which featured brief nudity in a steamy scene with guitarist Joe Don Rooney. And a 2003 recap wouldn’t be complete without coverage of the national storm the Dixie Chicks stirred up after lead singer Natalie Maines expressed anti-war sentiments at a London performance, which caused many Americans to question her patriotism. The special also examines the Dixie Chicks’ very public feud with fellow country superstar Toby Keith.

Toby on CMT has already told everyone that he is tired of the feud references between him and the Dixie Chicks and that it is no longer relavent to him anymore...Shania Twain has always had the greatest respect for Toby Keith! She showed it at this last 37th CMA awards...

Well you know the media they will soak up this feud for all its worth...The media is no respecter of persons that is for sure...As for the Chicks, I view that as their problem...They created it in the first place...I am just glad that Toby is above all that nonsense now! Which is exactly what it is when you look at it...Toby is now just concentrating on his music and is belting out song after song...He is on a roll and will be a hard act to follow as was Garth Brooks...Will Toby Keith be another Garth Brooks! That is very possible and Toby certainly has the potential...

This is an excellent program with a great segment on Shania which is No. 4. Cash deaths No 1, other segments news events. "Twain Returns, Lets Go Shania" she returns like a tornado. "Biggest selling female solo artisi of all time". Repeats 12/27, 1p, 6:30p, 12/28 11a, 8p and about twice a day for several days thereafter. Dont miss this.

George Strait gets a medal from the president, Tim at the Nobel Peace Prize concert, Newcommer news-Dirks Bentley remember he beat Shania. Pat Green- Wave on Wave. Joe Nichols breakthrew video, Brooks and Dunn, Reba, Martina join the fight against illegal downloads, Wynonna Judd DWI Arrest, Glen Campbell arrest, Lorrie Morgan and Sammy Kershaw get a divroce.

09- I Melt- Rascal Flatts video causes trouble. They didn't expect the negative reaction. [* Funny that they don't remember Shania's belly button *], the video helped raise their profile, got onto shows they would not normally have gone on, like Jay Leno

Okay.....back from commercial..........


08-Women were scarce this year, Men dominated the charts and awards. The men ruled the airwaves [*funny they didn't rule the sales*] Chet Flippo says-The current landscape for women is littered with corpses. The pendulem will swing back, but the trend in nashville is 5 years. It takes that long for the industry to let something go.

This is too funny......they mention Martina as trying to buck the trend and that Martina debuted at #1, and Faith has a new album in the works for 2004. [* Funny how Faith sets herself up to ride Shania's coat tails once again, she had two albums out when Come On Over was around *], No mention of Shania in this story. Funny, how they left her out. Out of all the women she is the only making the Ka-ching, and setting records. I think the women are just tapped out. They are still following the trend from the 90s. Shania is the only one to throw a change up.

Getting ready for it....just wait and see...

#5-Nat vs. Toby- We all know the story. Toby, is the only one who apologized, and he even said he is tired of the media making a big deal out of it. Nat keeps being abrasive. Nat opened first attacking his song "Angry American", Toby shot back a year later. The feud would have died there, until Nat opened her mouth in the UK, then the ACMS FUTK was the over the top shot, and Toby never responded. He says he doesn't want to hear about it again. Nat has yet to bury the hatchet.


#4-Shania returns!!!!!! Comes back like a Tornado. The Chicago show.....50,000 fans showed up. Shania was taken aback by how the fans reacted to the new music, "they knew all the words already" Shania took home CCMA awards. Life long dreams....Dolly. Shania said she has a stong connection with her fans at the shows. Shania continues her tour......they mentioned her Europe shows, Switzerland was mentioned as a stop???
