Adam saves Shania show
Pain-buster Adam Wilkey is a big hit with his new number one fan - country diva Shania Twain.

The multi-million record-selling star called him up recently at his Pudsey chiropractor clinic when she hurt her back on the UK leg of her sell-out world tour.

With just hours to go before the petite Canadian star was due to belt out a string of her hits at the MEN Arena in Manchester in front of 20,000 adoring fans, Mr Wilkey made a mercy dash to help get her on stage out of pain.

He said he got a call to say she was in real need and asking him to `come on over' as soon as he could. "They were really quite insistent she needed urgent treatment," he said.

After a 30-minute treatment the relieved songstress - who has sold a whopping 34 million records worldwide - was ready for the show to go on.

And as a big thank you to Mr Wilkey she rewarded him with a signed photo and ringside seats for that night's performance. He said: "I'm not a huge music fan but she is a lovely person. I enjoyed the show but couldn't switch off from looking all the time to see if there was anything she was doing to make her back problems worse.

"She is very petite and has a radio mike strapped to the back of her neck all the time which probably doesn't help."

And he said all the bending down, leaning forward to greet fans, signing autographs, shaking hands and tugging people from the audience up on to stage could also be putting pressure on the singing star's back.

Now he is sending Shania's management some words of advice to pass on to the performer. "Basically I'm advising her not to twist herself up so much on stage. She's a bit of a contortionist. She's had problems with her back before and isn't new to being treated by a chiropractor, she was very open to this kind of healing."

Mr Wilkey said he took one newspaper's review of the concert as a personal compliment when it described Shania as looking relaxed. Other famous names Mr Wilkey has helped heal have included members of Duran Duran and rockers The Who.

Glad to see Shania is doing better and cool that she didn't cancel. Maybe this is the reason for her testing out the head set in Birmingham....stress on back??

That makes sense, it would take some of the stress off her back, it would free up her arms.

I got the same impression..she does spend a lot of time bent...and this may have definitively caused a problem...let's hope she is now resting more ....and taking it slowly on stage..

I Had A Blast Giving Shania The Flowers And Seeing her Reaction! was the best Feeling Ever! Meeting Her Was Awesome! getting the oprah transcript signed was a blast and having her recognize me was cool!

I would be willing to bet that Mutt has been telling her the same thing to slow down and stop stooping down to sign all those autographs...That is what is hard on her back...Shania Twain has got to realize that she is not as young as she used to be...Age nearly always shows up in back stress first...

Man, I feel like....... I've been given a good working over by a Pudsey chiropractor

Brad Pitt may not impress country superstar Shania Twain much, but Adam Wilkey knows exactly how to hit the spot.

The Pudsey chiropractor sped to the Canadian singing sensation's aid when she had so much back pain, she was thinking of cancelling a sell-out concert in Manchester.

After half an hour of treatment, the singer was well enough to take the stage - and gave Adam front row tickets.

He said "I got a call to say that Shania was in real need and asking me to come on over as soon as I could. They were really quite insistent, so she must have been struggling."

He rearranged appointments at the Lawrence Linic in Greenside, Pudsey, Leeds, and dashed across the pennines. His treatment involves manipulation of the spine and joints with his hands to ease pain, particularly in the back and neck.

Adam said Shania, whose world-wide hits include Man, I Feel like a Woman and That Don't Impress Me Much , was a good patient, and showed her appreciation by sending him a signed photo, as well as the tickets.

"She was really nice and down-to-earth. She was joking with the rest of the crew saying they should have treatment too." He said he and his wife Esther enjoyed the show at the Manchester Evening News Arena - where he is on the register of medics - but also took the opportunity to check out the singer's posture to see if she was adding to her back problems.

"She has a very good rapport with her fans - she was constantly bending down, signing autographs, shaking hands and pulling the fans up on stage," he said. "If you are leaning forward for such a long period of time it is obviously going to put some pressure on your back."

Mr Wilkey, a chiropractor for 16 years, has also treated other music and sports stars through his links to the arena.
