Hi All!

Just got off the phone with Lazslo Barna, the Producer making the new movie about Shania.

On Friday the Province of Ontario announced a one-million dollar contribution to help pay for the made-for-t.v. movie. Barna says the money wil make a huge difference because the movie is NOT an inexpensive one....ie. will involve choreography, period cars, period costumes, etc.

The movie will chronicle Shania’s life from age eight, and is based upon Robin Eggar’s unauthorized biography – a book not officially endorsed by Twain. Twain herself has had no say in the movie production, but Barna suspects she knows about it.

Shooting on the movie will begin on September 20th, and will last 5- and- a half weeks. The movie will be shot in Timmins and Sudbury. Barna wouldn’t be specific on just 'what' or "who" would be shot in Timmins. The talk is that most of the filming will be done in Sudbury, but Barna wouldn't confrim or deny.

The CBC-CMT joint venture should appear on the CBC in Canada sometime in 2005.

p.s. He says they haven't found their Shania yet....but are very close

For a moment, I didn't remember Robin Eggar's book as an "unauthorized biography." However I just rechecked the book and now see his familiar opening sentence which addresses that issue. It basically confirms your description, tho with somewhat different wording.

Interesting to read your info about the developments regarding the movie.

It's also interesting that people are writing books, producing movies, and doing other things about the subject of Shania Twain; mostly without her direct "say" or authorization. I wonder how she feels about that. I suppose there are both benefits and costs. The former include but are not limited to publicity and advertising for her products and performances. The latter include decreased influence over representation of her life story, how her identity is used, and also decreased privacy.

Thanks for the Shania movie news update...Looks like they are almost ready now for filming of the TV Movie on Shania...I am certainly glad that Ontario has been generous enough to contribute to the cause and speaks volume's on how they all feel about Shania Twain...It is good that the Government of Ontario is solidly behind Shania Twain...

I say they start the film like they do on masterpiece theater, in a very ornate den, books on the shelf, a fire glowing in the fireplace in the background and then....in steps Tom Waller, wearing a smoking jacket, looking all sophisicated and then with his charming Scottish brogue beams with his infectious enthusiasm about all things Shania .....and then states...."Are you ready T.V. land???? I SAID, ARE YOU READY ???!!!!! :LMAO

Thanks for update Corrina. A big round of thanks should also go out to the Province of Ontario for it's contribution. I just hope it's done realistically and not done as some movies like this are. I am looking forward to it. I suspect we here in the States will get to see it at some point.

SHANIA TWAIN THE UNAUTHORIZED MOVIE SET TO SHOOT

Shania Twain must be waiting with baited anticipation as the rest us for the release of the movie...I wonder if they will show the movie to her first before releasing it...Hope so...But I can imagine Shania's reaction at watching a movie about herself...Not many people get to see that...The release of the movie should help Shania's sales of the Greatest Hits Album as well...Lets see Shania now has four Walks of Fame, a tour museum erected in her honor, the Shania Twain Center in Timmins, ON, several books written about her life story, and now this movie not to mention all the awards that she has to fill that museum...You could say that with this movie release Shania Twain has done it all...I can just see Mutt and Shania Twain watching that movie and then at the end Mutt will say Way to go Girl with a small glass of Champainge together...
