Shania has received 22 BMI Song writing Awards

yet nothing from that useless organization called the CMA It was pretty mean of the CMA to make Shania announce the one category that means a lot to her.

Maybe she has a quota of 25 minimum before they recognize her! I agree totally with you. This keeping the "Master-Lock" on her not breaking into the CMAs is becoming a bit irritating. Always remember though that she means a lot to us her fans. That has to count for something. Maybe next year will be the year she finally breaks through. She's got two songs on that GH CD that should do well. Don't is not only a beautiful song, it is a good Country ballad, and as far as I Ain't No Quitter, it doesn't get much more Country than that. Nice song! Plus we shouldn't forget PF2. It is doing well. She should get nominated at least next time.

Its ok evryone don't wake up I got in!!!LOL

HERE IS THE ENTIRE TRANSCRIPT from what I seen:

Arlene: Shania - when do you think you will be doing another UK tour?

Shania: First, I have to write the next album and I usually do things in that order. Write the music, record the music and then the whole thing is followed by a tour. I have now just finished an 18 month concert tour and I am now just going to go back into songwriting.

Shania: So, it will take several months to write, record and get back on the road again.

Debs: Hi Shania, What are you going to do to chill out when you finish your tour?

Shania: Well I've finished the tour and will now do some travel just for fun over Christmas. Maybe do some skiiing and hit the beach for some sun with my little son.

calamity: I'm a Canadian living in London. Why do you think Canada is so overlooked in Europe? You talked this morning about how much talent there is.

Shania: I don't think Canadian talent is overlooked so much it's just a question of the talent finding a way to get over here to promote etc. It's not easy to get financial support for the promotion it takes. The talent is there though that is for sure.

jacky:Ii was just wondering - if you had the chance to have a career in anything other than being a musician, what would it be?

Shania: I would have become a vet or an architectural designer. Two very different things than music although music would always have been a passion regardless and I proabably would have been in a weekend band and definately have remained a songwriter. That's my greatest love musically.

Moira: Would you consider going in to serious acting or are you happy with your music at the moment?

Shania: I love the fact that you said "serious actin" since I'm not sure if I would ever be good enough to seriously act. I had fun on the set of I HEART HUCKABEES but I wasn't exactly acting. I was there for a two second roll playing myself.

Palm: What keeps you singing and songwriting?

Shania: I'm constantly inspired by life around me and will allways write music. My passion for creating sounds/music is my way of expressing emotion and the lyrics are how I release stress etc. I guess you could say music is therapy for me. I'll never quit.

Dom: Hi Shania - you always look fantastic! How do you keep so fit?

Shania: Thanks for the compliment but I don't do anything specific to stay in shape. I'm acitve, eat well and if I notice an extra few pounds invading my jeans I cut back on carbs

Mark: Do you feel that being a mother has influenced your new album in any way?

Shania: Being a new monther has made me more sensitive emotionally and of course in turn influences my music. The biggest change has been to my priorities. He's number 1.

UKGUY: Your Hyde Park gig last year was amazing, do you ever get freaked when standing in front of so many fans?

Shania: The number of fans never scares me. The more the merrier. I love the intimacy of a small crowd but love the excitement of a massive audience.

Dawnlovescountry: Shania I love your new single - any plans for more duets? And is there anyone you would love to work with?

Shania: I love the idea of even doing an entire album of duets with all my favourite classic artists like Elton, Stevie, Eagles and so many more. We'll see what the future brings.

07: how do you feel your music has changed since your early "country" days, and do you think thats a reflection of the changes you've made as a person?

Shania: My early country days were very traditional since my whole repertoire was of Dolly Parton, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings etc. but I soon went on to do clubs where the demand was for pop and rock so from the age of 12 my mix of many styles of music began

Claire: Good morning Shania. How do you manage to keep yourself so down to earth?

Shania: I think being Canadian helps. People are pretty rootsy there and I hope I never lose that.

Dusty: What do you feel about the current 'Mullet' revival?

Shania: I thought that was just a Canadian Hockey player thing. My nephews have to have their hair sticking out the back of their helmets. I can't believe it's spreading. Ha!

Lyndaf: Hello shania! How do you cope with jetting around the globe, any tips for long-haul travelling?

Shania: It's pot luck really. I never eat on the plane during long trips and get to sleep as soon as possible. Sleep is the only way to beat it.

LONDONGUY: What's the most extravagant item you have ever bought?

Shania: The most extravagant things I buy are usually for my friends. I enjoy buying them things they wouldn't or couldn't normally buy themselves like nice jewelery or if a friend desperately needs a new car I'll do that.

Are you a fan of more marginal country and folk singers like Jolie Holland, Lambchop and Pablo Escovado?

Shania: In Canada we have artist like Buffy Saint Marie and Gordon Lightfoot who are folk singers but are considered also country in Canada and I like that side of country very much. We have a lot of Irish music that is considered country as well which is cool.

Naj: You have done it all! What challenges are left?

Shania: Life is full of challenges and I've hardly met them all. I look forward to trying to write a greater song, raising a child is a continuous challenge and the future being full of surprises will surely bring those unexpected challenges to deal with. I love change so bring it on

Shania: Thank you very much for your questions and hopefully I'll get the chance to answer more in the future. Have a great Christmas and take care everyone.

Thanks for the transcript. I got to see most of it. Unfortunately, my question wasn't used. (Wish it could have been a lot longer!!) It was fun watching her expressions.

Hi everyone, I thought you might like to here about Shania's appearance on GMTV

She was interviewed at 7.40 am

Ist question was about greatest hits and had she missed anything off.
She said she thought everything significant was on it and that is why it was released now.
They then showed some very short clips of MIFLAW, TDIMM and FAFA.
Then asked origin of 'Shania',and she said it was North American.
Her real names are Eilleen Regina which are Irish and taken from both her grandmothers.
She then went on to say about her stepdad being native and how the record company wanted to change Twain, but she didn't want to and changed Ist name instead.
The interviewer (Eamon Holmes) then said that she was responsible for lots of little Shanias all over the housing estates of Britain. She said 'it's quite bizarre, yeah'
Then asked why Switzerland, and she said it's quite central for both her and Mutt, easy access and 4 seasons, didn't want to live anywhere to hot and she needs the snow in winter.
They then asked what does Mutt do and where does his name come from. (wonderful question - not!)
She was so nice and just said it was a childhood nickname and he was a producer and co-writer.
They asked about acting and the film that she is in.
She said she wasn't acting, just being herself.
Then they showed 2 outakes of the film, of her getting it wrong.
She laughed and said that was funnier than the actual clip.
Said it was hard to remember lines as well as act.
They asked if she used autocue or cue cards on stage.
She said no, and if she has to, it means she is getting old.
She said the audience sings the songs with her and if she watches them and they sing the wrong words, she does as well and it happens all the time.
That was the end of the interview and she went on to sing PF2 with Mark.
I don't know if she sang live or mimed, and I don't care!
It was a wonderful way to start the day.

Teresa

Thanks for the great recap!!

I think Shania's doing (almost) the same thing at all the shows where she's performing....
She's really singing, the mic is on, but there's also a 'backing track' (or how do you call it) accompanying her....
So when Shania says for example 'whoooo' between the lines, you can hear it (not too loud though)....

But I've got no problems with it....she's got to take it easy with her voice, and this is just the right thing to do at the moment.
