50 Cent protege and Compton native The Game shot straight to the top of the Canadian album charts this week.

The new hip-hop star's latest album, "The Documentary," debuted at No. 1 with sales of 24,800, knocking Green Day's "American Idiot" (8,900) down to No. 2, according to data compiled by Nielsen SoundScan.

The Game also grabbed the No. 1 spot south of the border, selling an impressive 587,000 copies of "The Documentary" in the U.S.

Elsewhere in the Canadian top 10, Quebec artist Annie Villeneuve checked into the third position with "Quand Je Les Yeux" (7,700), Eminem's "Encore" dropped from No. 2 to No. 4, and Shania Twain moved down one to No. 5.

After rising up the charts in recent weeks, Gwen Stefani's debut solo effort "Love.Angel.Music.Baby" slipped three spots to No. 6, the collection "MuchDance 2005" claimed the No. 7 spot, and U2's "How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb" fell from No. 5 to No. 8.

Usher's "Confessions" claimed the No. 9 position, and Kelly Clarkson's "Breakaway" rounded out the top 10.

It is hard to maintain a high rating when you are not too much in the press. But I agree, she is still doing well.
