Week 7-Well, its almost been a month of my chart!! Kenny Chesney extends his hold on #1 and gaines about 2 mill. of aud. imp. this week. For those of you who still don't know what this chart is: it is a chart of the most heard country artists of the past 7 days. I get this information by compiling the data from Mediabase's current and recurrent chart. Shania gained about 200,000 in aud. imp. this week. As predicted, Shania did pass reba! However Trace Adkins passed Shania. This leveled everything out and Shania stays at #29 this week. However, 27-29 are basically up for grabs next week. There is only about .4 million difference in aud. imp. between them this week.

You can really see how they beat down the women in country music. Talk about some major disparity between the men and the women.

I guess they figured out that any innovation in country music these days comes from the women, and not the guys.

The GH CD is still at #3, so I would guess that people are keeping it up there because of Don't. Radio airplay is a crime! There are so many artists that have good airplay, but no CD sales to support them. This just shows how phony radio is!

Yes, the women are getting trashed right now, but let's not forget that 7 or 8 years ago, it was the opposite. The men were getting trounced and the women were dominating. I think 911 and then the Iraq War have powered the men up. I do enjoy patriotic songs, but I think they have overdone it. The patriotic song market has been flooded and is no longer a special thing in my opinion. This is where the ladies haven't done much. Maybe it's because we don't expect women to sing a lot of patriotic songs. Chely Wright has one out now of course, "The Bumper of My SUV." I liike that one because it's different. She claims it is a true story. I really like how she sings it with barely any accompanyment. It's nice to hear something upbeat once in a while from the ladies. I like "The World Needs A Drink" by Terri Clark. It makes you feel good.
