I know this is going back into the archives a little to retrieve this thread, but I did so for a reason. The other day I mentioned in another thread about listening to Shania's 1999 interview because it had somehow got loaded onto my MP3. Well, I also have "Quitter" on too. I have always liked it. Most of my family don't like it, too country! But the reason I brought it up is that in the interview, she talks about how she may have an idea for a song, write it with an idea of how it will be done, but then when she gets into the studio to record it, many times it comes out entirely different than what she had imagined. She related it to doing pottery, i.e., you may start out with an idea for a pot, but then when you are doing it, it may take on a whole different look.

So, here's my point. When she finally gets into the studio to put her thoughts and words to music, will she come out with MIFLAW, HAWHHI, or Quitter? I am not a big country fan, but I think Quitter is an awesome song. Maybe it's because it's a little like the Western Swing music of Bob Wills and The Texas Playboys, or Ernest Tubb and the Texas Troubadours from the 50's that I used to enjoy. Quitter reminds me of that music which basically is country's answer to big band music.

Anyway, based on something she said recently about her music, and I don't remember where, she kind of indicates that probably there won't be as much of MIFLAW type of songs. It sounded like she might have more songs like HAWHHI.

We won't know until she actually does it, but I sure wouldn't mind a few more songs like Quitter. But then there is the age-old question when it comes to Shania and her music. Will it be country, will it be pop, will it be both, or will it be something else?? I guess the jury is still out on that. :)

All 3 of the new tunes on The Greatest Hits are good. But I wonder what Shania's first album without Mutt will be like.
