Well, it has happened. Shania's GH is out of the top 100. I don't know what the exact sales number is, however, I know it is a little over 10,400 copies according to Shania.com. It has fallen to #102. It should remain in the top 15 of the country charts however. If anybody has the actual sales number please post it...thanks!;)

Still very good for an album with no real promotion in months and no single currently supporting it.

It's almost like taking a bunch of unknown candy bars and dumping them in a bin on the end of an aisle in a grocery store and expect them to sell with no promotion to the public..:( Well, I know it wasn't quite that bad for the G/H CD, but not much promotion did go into it. When you compare the ads on say CMT and GAC for GH and Here For The Party - Gretchen Wilson, there is no comparison. You would see an occassional ad for GH when it came out, but HFTP was being pushed every time they went to commercial it seemed.

Steve

And the amazing part about it is Gretchen's HFTP and Shania's GH have now almost equaled in sales. HFTP is cert. at 4x platinum and the GH should have a 4x platinum certification any day now.

UP!'s AVG. Sales Per Week: 110,021
GH's AVG. Sales Per Week: 87,048

I expect a 4x platinum certification in early fall. My soundscan prediction is that by December the album should break the 3.45 Million mark.

GH Sales By Year
2004: 2,237,900
2005: 0,895,854

The GH has sold nicely this year. It will pass the 900,000 mark on the year next week. I predict it will break the million mark on the year by October-November.

Well what goes up must come down, but it was a good run. Of course it could of been better but hey people have to give it it's props for being the highest country GH debut ever....2nd highest debut of any genre for a GH, just behind the Beatles.

I think it is still great that it is in the TOP 15 in country...still lasting longer than alot of albums that probably just debuted a couple of weeks ago. This is a GH album and it will continue to sell over the years as Shania releases more new albums and people become aware of her music. I think it will be another DIAMOND that Shania can add to her collection someday.:)

I think it will be one of those albums that sell for a long time. Most Greatest Hits albums do. It may not sell a lot on a weekly basis but overtime it will gain sales. Just think if it can sell like COO 1500-2000 copies a week on avg. I would be satisfied.

Hey Mercury. :duh! maybe with good promotion, Shania's GHs might have been 8x platinum or even more.:stubborn:

I also believe Shania will be around for many more 4x platinums, or more, but maybe Ms. Wilson may not be.:p

Ms Wilson will be losing sales because her new album comes out in September.

I am actually suprised that Don't has stayed on the charts this long. Remembering back to FAFA (shania's most recent AC #1) VH1 played Shania's FAFA a ton...they even had it in the top 10 of the top 20 countdown for a while. With Don't I don't think they have ever played the video on VH1, also, many stations are still playing FAFA pretty heavily...this also may have affected Don't...just like IOHWIB....

I think when all the dust had cleared, FAFA was the biggest and best staying power song on the UP CD. I am talking now both country and pop. Granted IGGG was a big song for both genres as well, but FAFA is as you have said, is still being played a lot. I seldom hear IGGG now. I hear YSTO a lot more. The song Up did okay. It landed on the VH1 Top 20 for one week, if I remeber right. She also had IGGG and FAFA on it as well. The latter two for an extended period of time. Other than that, SNJAPF, IOHWIB, and WYKM were not so popular and somewhat disappointing as far as I'm concerned. I am also disappointed that Ka-Ching, TYB, etc were never released in the US as videos. TYB is an awesome video. It has a lot of neat stuff in it. I think that may have done well on VH1.

Now as far as Don't goes, I must say with sadness that it is not VH1's style of music. That is why it never made it there. The reason being it is a pretty wholesome video, except for a little upper-chest heaving.:D VH1 tends to have high-ranking videos that have a lot of sexy moves, or someone puking on someone, or someone shooting or stabbing someone. Somehow, Don't doesn't fit that mold.:shakeit: Thank God for that.HEY1
