Wow I am amazed. I just experienced and felt my first ever in my life earthquake from here in Abu Dhabi. At 2:47 in the afternoon here, (6:47 AM eastern time in the U.S. eastern zone) I happened to be at home in our villa, and I heard a strange deep rumbling sound accompanied by definite feelings of swaying slightly from side to side. Lasted a little over 5 seconds I estimate, which seemed like an eternity. Things in the villa were heard shaking, and clinking noises of glasses, cups and dishes shaking in the kitchen cupboards. I am dog sitting our neighbors dog, and he immediately started barking during the quake and for a few seconds after until I told him to knock it off.

Bel called from work and asked me if I felt that, and we talked about it for a few minutes.

Breaking news coming in is saying there was a huge quake in Iran, one source is claiming a 7.8, and another 8.0. That is pretty massive!

I will be watching the news here to catch more reports coming in. Wow what an experience. I can't find any damage around here.

That rumbling sound was really surreal. The sound of the Earth shifting.... Dang-ggggg.... I will never forget this.

I kinda always thought the rumbling you hear in movie earthquakes is just for Hollywood sound effects, but I'm here to tell ya- ...it ain't no joke.

I forgot where you are Eric. On the CBS Evening News last night they said it could be felt as far away as New Delhi. Never thought about Dhabi. Sounds like your okay.
