15 Songs That Changed Country Music-Can't Believe It!
I watched this show Monday night. Maybe some of you did too. It was good, but I couldn't believe "You're Still The One" was not part of this countdown, or how about "Any Man Of Mine". Gee,they might have changed country music, don't cha think? A No-Brainer? Well guess not. I've attached the ones that made it. They are some of my favs, but still, I'm disappointed
1. Patsy Cline – Crazy
2. George Jones – He Stopped Loving Her Today
3. Hank Williams – I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry
4. Garth Brooks – Friends In Low Places
5. Johnny Cash – Folsom Prison Blues
6. Merle Haggard – Mama Tried
7. Kenny Rogers – The Gambler
8. Tammy Wynette – Stand By Your Man
9. Martina McBride – Independence Day
10. Alan Jackson – Where Were You When the World Stopped Turning
11. Taylor Swift – Love Story
12. Dolly Parton & Kenny Rogers – Islands in the Stream
13. Loretta Lynn – Coal Miner’s Daughter
14. Tim McGraw – Live Like You Were Dying
15. Dolly Parton – I Will Always Love You

Any Man of Mine should be on that list. What exactly did Friends in low places change? I know its w 9/11 song but that Alan Jackson song didn't change anything. Taylor Swift would be nothing without Shania Blasting the doors open

I wrote to the person on that story...
I saw this list of songs and there is a very blatant omission. Where is Shania Twain, Any Man of Mine. You wouldn't have Taylor Swift or Martina McBride anywhere on that list if it wasn't for Shania's impact on country music. She changed how country albums are produced, how they sound and how they are presented on video. She also ushered in an era of female country artists that ran right over the boring hat acts of the 90s and early 2000s.

Cool! Nice going Chris!! Let's see what happens now. I for one will be very interested to see if the guy responds, first of all, and secondly, what excuses he gives.

Just while we are on this subject:
From The Boot: http://theboot.com/shania-twain-the-woman-in-me/
There is this:
17 Years Ago: Shania Twain Makes History With ‘The Woman in Me’
Nov. 17, 1997 was a historic day for Shania Twain, and for country music. It was on this day, 17 years ago, that the singer’s sophomore album, ‘The Woman in Me,’ was certified diamond, signifying sales of more than 10 million units.
‘The Woman in Me’ became the first record by a female artist to sell in excess of 10 million units. The album spawned six No. 1 hits and sold more than 20 million copies worldwide. Twain wrote or co-wrote every song but one on the album with her then-husband, producer Mutt Lange, who wrote the chart-topping hit ‘You Win My Love’ by himself.
The success of ‘The Woman in Me’ was surprising to everyone, including the songstress. Her self-titled debut project didn’t even break the Top 40 and did not include any songs written by Twain. But with ‘The Woman in Me,’ the Canadian found her musical footing and went on to release two more studio albums, including ‘Come on Over,’ which sold more than 40 million copies and became the best-selling album by a female artist in any genre.
Twain has sold more than 85 million albums and is one of the top-selling artists of all time.
[Gee, nothing in here that would seem to change ountry music!] Hmmm?

I fixed my own list, too. I had Folsom Prison Blues listed twice. I was glad to spot the error because it made room for Cheap Whiskey, which I really wanted on the list. After a million country songs glamorizing drinking, Martina told the real story. It opened the way for songs like Little Rock and Whiskey Lullaby.

Nice Going!! I like that list a lot!
They didn't give Elvis any credit as well. Read an article years ago, and I am thinking you might know of it too. It told that after Elvis made it big, they had to quickly revise the entire Grand Ole Opry way of doing music since their attendance dropped off a lot. In the sixties and on, a lot of Opry stars got the duck tail style hair and crazy outfits. LOL!

"Any Man Of Mine" should replace Tim McGraw's song.

To be honest, I don't think any of these songs really "changed" country music.
