Headin' to Vegas in the AM and staying at Caesars Palace-Hope to see you all there. Going to the show Saturday night then the charity event afterwards. So far Miles For Meals has raised over $2000 for the Vegas run benefitting Shania Kids Can US-Ltd program. Have a cold that just won't quit but this run's on-EH! DOC

Wish you were here too Steve. It's cool seeing Shania's picks everywhere and hearing her music all over the place around Caesars. The dresses infront of the concert area that Spock showed are cool. Looking forward to seeing you too Dennis. Re the run-just getting over a cold now got a gastroenteritis bug. Been in bed most of the day today after the expo. Hopefully this will pass quickly. Doc

Race is done and I definately missed going to the 2nd show last pm! Made up for it by listening to Shania's music while I ran. Running the Strip at night was truely a tremendous experience and I would highly recommend it for anyone every considering a half or full marthon. My time was poor but I had a pretty nasty cold for 10 days leading up to the race and couldn't train and when I got here I got a viral gastroenteritis which really wiped me out-I was really weak for the race. All I wanted to do was finish the race for those who donated to the Shania Kids Can cause and I did. So far we collected about $2100 in donations which I gave to Tracy at the event the other nite and I hope there is more coming when I get home. All I can say to the Vegas Strip is "I'LL BE BACK!". lol
Oh I can't tell you how cool it was coming onto the strip and seeing all the shania pics up on the big boards-loved it!

LOL Steve-this marathon stuff is generally 95% mental and 5% training. Putting one foot infront of the other a bunch of times and enjoy the ride. When you don't feel well it becomes 99.999% mental and you dang well better enjoy the ride (easy coming down the strip at night with big Shania signs glowing everywhere!)
Heres a link for some pics so you can see the pain-just hit control and click on the link and it will take you there-click on enlarge to see bigger pics. The lovely chick there is my wife Deb not some Vegas show girl LOL Doc

Some great pictures! Thanks for sharing. You guys look pretty much like you did 11 years ago. I think it's great what you are doing. I try to walk about 4 miles every other day to keep myself going, but nothing like you're doing. I can't do much of any jogging as I have a bad achilles tendon. My doc says I can do little sprints as long as I don't get any pain. We have quarter-mile markers along our Kennebec River Trail. When I come to one of those, I jog for a slow count of 25. That doesn't seem to bother it. I'm not as young as you. LOL! I've tried more than four miles and it takes a lot out of me, so marathon's are out.

LOL-thanks but I'm sure we both look the 11 years older since we saw you last. I'm proud of you for the miles you're putting in with an achilles injury-real tough! I'm a firm believer that we as humans are meant to run/walk and there is definately a world of information out there showing the benefits in life quality and length of life improvements in individuals who actually do walk/run 30-45 minutes a day (the longer the better!). You just do the best you can and the next day do better and before you know it you're actually feeling good and loving the miles so keep at it as best you can by putting one foot in front of the other and focus on the Shania music blasting in your head phones danglin' out there just like a carrot in front of a donkey! LOL
I do look forward to meeting up with you again sometime Steve-Doc

Thanks! Just one thing about listening to Shania as I am walking along, must watch out for crazy bikers riding up behind me. I'm sure you've encountered them. Most are fine, but a few think the rail trail is their own road and would run you down if you get in the way, I swear. So, I look behind me often.
Steve
