July 6, 2001-Shania Sign Vandalized at Entrance to New Centre! It is sad to report that on July 3 some individuals have vandalized the Shania Sign at the Shania Twain Centre :( We are all confident that this is the action of an isolated person who simply cannot understand the beauty of Shania's music! The city of Timmins has promptly reacted by cleaning the sign. Thanks Timmins! From the Timmins Daily Press website: "Less than a week into business, the Shania Twain Centre has been the target of vandalism. Early Tuesday morning, someone spray painted an obscenity on the centres sign located on Park Road. Even vandals, however, could not dampen the upbeat spirit of officials connected with the $11-million tourist attraction. I heard about it, but I didn't see it myself, said Timmins tourism and attractions manager Will Saari. We sent a building and maintenance crew out and they cleaned it up." July 6, 2001-Souvenirs from Timmins! Waiting for the Timmins Photos page to be uploaded early next week, and for the link to the online video of the Fan Club members on the 6 pm Timmins News, here are some of the souvenirs we all collected in Timmins. The image to the left is the ticket stub from the Grand Opening of the Shania Twain Centre on June 30! Below, you can see the photo from the Shania Suite Party where some of the members were interviewed, in addition to the special stamp cancellation of the Canadian Post Office in honor of the opening of the Shania Centre. 
Next to it, you can see the Fan Club AD as it was printed in the Special Edition of the Timmins Daily Press in the occasion of the centre opening. Finally, to the right, you can see a sample party card created for the Fan Club party the night of the opening!

June 23, 2001-Another Beauty for the Centre! Here is the Star Certificate framed! The Certificate will be donated to the Shania Twain Centre the day of the opening, on June 30, during the ceremony, together with the Timmins AD Frame. A Huge Thanks to Cbspock for coming up with a great idea!

June 13, 2001-Isn't She a Beauty? Here it is, the Fan Club's Timmins AD Frame which will be donated on June30th, together with the Star Certificate, to the Shania Twain Centre to be put on display right on time for the grand opening! June 13, 2001-How to Get to the Shania Twain Centre... In case you think you might miss the Shania Twain Centre in Timmins, the city is planning to make sure to get all Shania fans there. According to an article posted at the Timmins Daily Press website: "A series of new signs providing directions to the Shania Twain Centre and the Timmins Gold Mine Tour are being erected in Timmins and area. A huge direction sign is the first thing travellers will see when entering the city proper from the east. Its just past the light at the junction of Highway 655 and Algonquin Boulevard, Lornes Esso." 3 pm & 6 pm Timmins CTV Station Tour! Let's have a look at how the media will be working the weekend of the Shania Twain Centre opening! and get a chance to be LIVE on TV from the Shania Centre grounds on the 6 pm News! Sunday July 1 HAPPY CANADA DAY! 11 am Timmins Tour with Resident! A HUGE Thanks to Michelle from Timmins who has very kindly volunteered to be our tour guide in Timmins! We will be trying to car pool so to avoid causing traffic jams! LOL Meeting point: Senator Hotel lobby: 10.50 am.	1 pm STUSOFC Picnic! Come with us to one of Timmins recreational parks and simply have fun under the sun! There will be places where you can buy your own food and drinks. Two possible green spaces are under consideration at the moment: Hollinger Park and Gillies Lake. We have other options available in case the first two parks are crowded. More Fan Club group photos! 4.30 pm Fan Club Brainstorming Meeting! Join us to submit ideas for possible Fan Club's activities!

May 18, 2001-Shania Twain Centre Contest! The Shania Twain Centre will be having a very special contest for 4 lucky winners to get in the Centre before anyone else and stay two nights at a hotel in Timmins during the weekend of the opening! May 17, 2001-Shania Twain Centre Tickets Announcement! The Shania Twain Centre website has just posted information on when and how to buy tickets to visit the centre the weekend of the opening. Here below is Mr.Will Saari's Press release: "Tickets For Shania Twain Centre Grand Opening Now On Sale.
The Shania Twain Centre announced today that tickets for the Grand Opening weekend from June 30th to July 2nd, 2001 will be on sale from Tuesday, May 22nd to Friday, May 25th (12 p.m. to 6 p.m.) and from Monday, May 28th to Friday, June1st (12 p.m. to 6 p.m). The $10.00 tickets will be available in the lounge at the McIntyre Curling Club and can be paid for with cash, Visa or MasterCard. Shania fans from throughout North America and the World will be able to purchase tickets at 1-800-387-8466, through the Centre's Web site at www.shaniatwaincentre.com or through packages currently being offered by local hotels:

The STUSO Fan Club is fortunate that Joni had the foresight to take it for the opening of the Centre, and for her generosity in making it available to the Fan Club for our Opening Night festivities! April 18, 2001-The Shania Twain Train to the Opening! Ontario's North Tours will be promoting a "Shania Train" in cooperation with Ontario Northland and The Interpretive Centre for the opening weekend. The Shania Twain Centre's official website has posted lots of information regarding traveling to Timmins to visit the centre: downloadable maps, flights and car rental info, accomodations, and other facts on tourist attractions.. By the way, did you know that "The City is 3,210 km2 (1,240 square miles) making Timmins the largest city in Canada by area?" Click HERE to read more!

Fan Club Trip Plans: Stage 3! (March 2001) 
OPENING DATE CHANGED! Please note that the Shania Twain Centre organization has decided to move the Grand Opening of the Centre to June 30th, 2001 at 11 am. :)

INFO BOOTH AT THE SHANIA CENTRE : The Fan Club has obtained permission to set up temporarily a sort of  info booth regarding our Fan Club at the Shania Centre from June 30 till July 2nd.  This is a great opportunity for us to let all Shania fans, in Timmins for the opening, know about what we do..I have started thinking about what type of things to hand out: flyers about our Fan Club and what we have done, some more info on Shania's career with some trivia questions and rare news on Shania's music, bumper stickers (I will post soon which one among two colored stickers you would prefer), of course we will be having our now famous Tshirts , copies of what will go in the Scrapbook and anything else the members can come up with.
We need to start planning about the Fan Club's activities in Timmins (I know that we do not know whether Shania will be there, but we want the Fan Club to be seen and heard in Timmins). Is anybody here from the board interested in putting together a cool flyer for the Fan Club (Viva, Loon, Tides24, Spock,and all the others..)? If you do not know how to do it, just post your ideas here and we'll try to incorporate everyone's input so to make it a real flyer from all the members.
We will need another type of help for what concerns the organization of the booth. I have Bryce down to help out with the hours at the booth, we will probably need no more than six hours a day during those 3 days, I'll pick up all the hours that will not be covered by any member in Timmins. I know that everyone is going to Timmins for a vacation, but what can be more fun than being at the Shania Centre the week end of  its opening? I do not foresee more than 2-3 people at the booth to hand out the flyers and answer eventual questions.. 
One final question: does anyone here know how to put a booth together?  LOL I mean, if we get a couple of tables will be cool, but what about having a small structure such as a standing shelf or
something like that?
Please let me know if you have any ideas for the Fan Club's activities in Timmins...

Official planning of the Shania Twain North American Online Fan Club trip to Timmins to attend the opening of the Shania Twain Centre on July 1, 2001 has begun! The Fan Club has obtained a special group rate discount for rooms at the Senator Hotel. All Fan Club members can have their room at a 5.5 % discounted rate per day, but you have to act fast!!!!
