Duffy helped Shania Twain get through her public break-up with ex-husband Mutt Lange, the country singer has revealed.
The 45-year-old says listening to the Welsh pop star's songs helped her cope after Lange allegedly had an affair with her best friend.
Asked what songs she listened to when her marriage ended in 2008, Twain says: 'The album Silence Speaks by the [Canadian] twins known as RyanDan, brought me to my knees in complete, uncontrollable tears and also gave me a feeling of peace and inspiration.
'I also drew inspiration from Duffy and old classics like Etta James’s At Last, as well as my own song Today, the first original song I wrote alone after 14 years of collaborating with Mutt.
'It became the theme song for my [reality TV] series.'
Twain doesn't say exactly which Duffy songs helped her to cope with her heartbreak.
But in 2008, the 26-year-old singer was riding a wave of success with her award-winning album Rockferry.
The record spawned the song Mercy, which was a hit on both sides of the Atlantic.
Twain is now married to Swiss businessman Frederic Thiebaud.
